Wheel hub grinding noise - 1986 323

Hi.

I'm struggling with a persistent problem. In May, I replaced the front bearings, both sides, and re-used the hub spacers. Torqued to 145 ft-#s. After four months, incredible grinding noise appears in front left hub. Replaced bearings and spacer (#12) with new. Spacer looked flattened and had marks ground into the flat faces that sit against the inner & outer bearing race faces. Torque again to 145 ft-#s, after driving 2-3 miles, grinding noise re-appears.

I've replaced everything incl the CV shaft (just in case). Hub spacer continues to grind. Varied the hub spacer from #12 thru #20. No joy.

What am I missing or failing to see?

Are you having the hub and knuckles pressed in with a hydrolic press? how are you installing them and are you loading them with lots of grease?
