Wheel help.....round two

That 38mm offset is way to low. Try to find a wheels that is in the 48mm-53mm range. The closest to stock 52.5 that you can get is best.

I have 38 mm offset and love how the car handles and looks I know that they are diff rims but they dont stick out so much...pics to give you an idea

38mm is not an acceptable offset on the speed 3. If someone is about to buy new rims please do not mislead into thinking 38mm is acceptable. 48-53 is the best offset for our car.

I follow my offset rules:

My wheels are Wedsport tc-005 18x8.5 53mm offset. A 0.5mm off from factory 52.5. Perfect wheel for the speed 3. The widest that will fit, with about a 4mm space between the wheel and the strut. I spent alot of time measuring to find the widest possible set up that fit with the correct offset. Then I managed to find a wheel with the specs I wanted. (thumb)

I still lowe the way mine looks that they are not hidden in the fender....and car actually handles better because it sits wider...

lol thanks guys...s*** i really know nothing when it comes to rims apparently....anybody have any general suggestions cuz im f-cking lost

No rubbing at all with my 235s. That is one the benifets of using the proper offset, as well as suspension geometry is not being comprimised.

I gotta agree with jp on this, +38 is no good. Wisnia. what are the rest of the specs on those wheels and don't you rub with them sticking out that far?

Jp, I forget were you gonna go 245s ever?

those rims are 18x8 offset 38 mm and now im running stock tires but I will upgrade them soon for some 235/40 but I have no idea what tires are good I want awesome grip and good price....I dont rub at all in fast corner and other weird things :P dont rub on insde or outside .I think If I will decide to lower it I should be good with cobb spring or mazdaspeed ones

When you go to a 235/40/18 you are going to be 1/2" closer to the fender than you are now with stock rubber. With 38mm offset that will be 1" closer to the outer fender than stock. You are going to have rubbing issues before you even think about putting lowering springs on.

I'm not trying insult your setup Wisnia. If your car works for you that is great; however by now I am sure that you would agree that people who are about wheels should be looking in the 48-53 range.

Young Roids I have not made up my mind if it would benificial. My rims are definetly wide enough to support them, but the 245 40 re-01r are couple pounds heavier than my 235 40. I'm not sure the extra width is worth weight penalty.

yep they should look into this if they want to have life easier Im sure that I wont lowet my car thats why I choose those wheels....

Good inputs jp4130. Got any pictures of your wheel set up? I'd love love to find a light 8.5" wide wheel with the right offset for autox and I'm actually considering 17x8.5 to meet this goal. I take it you had to roll fenders a bit?

Also, my experience with Hondas and Subaru's is that while I thought my handling got sharper or better with a lower offset wheel, it was actually the increased tire size that was adding the handling/grip. It took going back down from a low offset wheel to the correct offset to feel the diference and the difference is huge. A 17x8 50 offset felt much sharper, much more precise and much easier to track then a 17x8 40 offset (yes with the same exact tire). Also, when I had my Honda, the bearings started to head south after about 20k miles.

hold on a minute now, so you have a 4mm spacer to push the wheels out, but you are saying that you are only .5mm off?

shouldnt it be 4.5mm or am I thinking of something else with that spacer?

I am thinkin of going with a 18x8.5+45mm with 235/40 Will I rub?? I don't really want to roll my fenders much
