few months back i got a cel on rich at idle and notice im always around 500-400 rpms it just dosent sound good we scanned the car and its not pointing out anything so we put denso plugs in and a dg induction cleaning and at first it kicked it up to 800rpm but next day shot back down. have no clue what to do now

i would say it be your egr,,i would clean it or replace it,thats what people been telling me about the rough idle,,and check for cracks in your air intake house

Stock idle rpm should be around 700 steadily once the engine is warm. If your car is idling at 500 im sure it feels like its going to stall . . .

What mods do you have. My guess would be a leak somewhere, MAF sensor problem, or EGR.

i have a mazda cai and put the air straightner in it but nothing fixed

should i get a short ram instead since the mazdaspeed cai is a fail?

sorry remind me what MAF and EGR

EGR = ehaust gas recirc valve. Basically recircs your exhaust gasses to reduce harmful gasses from accumulating. Don't know THAT much about it but I know a malfunctioning one can cause a rough idle.

MAF = mass air flow sensor. Its the black thing that plugs into your CAI. Measures the air going in and adjusts your fuel / etc accordingly. If its dirty or malfunctioning it can cause your A/F ratios to go out of wack leading to problems.

I would check your hoses and clamps and make sure everything is nice and tight. Especially the vacuum / boost lines around your bypass valve. Then unscrew your MAF sensor and clean it off gently.

Certainly time to change mechanics. Find one who can read. Better yet, DIY. Clean the MAF with brake cleaner - VERY carefully. They're kinda tender.
