Greets all,

Just got my car insurance bill the other day, and I'm starting to understand where all the money I had for mods is going. (hand)
I'm with Geico, with no previous violations or anything, and my premiums are ridicoulous. $2,200 a year.

So I'm seriously thinking of dropping them and getting less coverage for less money. What do you all have or recommend? Any suggestions?

i have maximum coverage on my Protege5 and Chrysler Laser (:D junkheap) for $1,600 a year

mines $135 a month which is $1,620 a year for full coverage

you could drop your coverage and save more..but in the event that something happends you'll be kicking yourself in the ass if its not covered because you lowered your coverage

I pay $126 a month or roughly $1450 a year for full coverage on my MSP.
That is for Hartford BTW.

DAMN!
I just realized that you said you have no tickets!
I have a buku boatload from ovr the years and also have to file an SR-22 for losing my liscense 4 years ago.I even had a slight fender bender once as well.
And my rates are still lower than yours! How old are you? That might be the difference.
Matt

I pay about $2000/year for my 2 cars.
1) 2002.5 Protege 5
2) 1996 Audi A6
Thats full coverage in MA (on 2 tickets)

Wow!!! I feel now that my insurance is high compared to most of you guys. Well, i'm paying $150/ month on mercury insurance. And this is the only car I have. I even have my dad's name in my insurance to make it lower. And I have no ticket yet, been driving since I was 17 (4 years already). Damn...i think I better find a better insurance

Ready to get sick? I pay $1,150.00/year with State Farm.

I'm 24, married, and own a home (who's insurance is also through State Farm).

I'm also turning 25 in June which mean that it will be even less.

Hooray for marriage! Hooray for being 25! Hooray for "multi-line discount"!

Hehe...I really appreciate everyone who's responded here. Pretty mixed answers, as I expected.
But I was kinda hoping you guys could also post WHICH insurance company you are with, so I could get some ideas who might be good to go with once I drop Geico.;)

By the way, I'm 19, so that probably has something to do with the high prices. But I think with no violations and decent coverage, I should be able to do better than $2200 a year.
I'm aiming for $1500 hopefully...but that might be outta range too for a 19 year old. :(

I pay $1330 a year and I have a 18 mo old speeding ticket. Without the ticket it was $230 less (I tried ;) )

Mine is $79 a month ($480/6 months) -Full coverage. I also live in Montana where you're more likely to hit a deer than get in a major pileup.

175 a month for full coverage on my p5, my 4runner, and renters insurance with allstate

well, i just got my new insurance from progressive auto, and its going to cost me 700+ every six months for insurance.

about 950 for 6 months -- full coverage + loan pay off + extra for stereo system -- i have 1 accident that comes off in a year -- then itll go back down :)

18, 3 tickets(although my insurance has never gone up due to the tickets), no accidents, on my rents insurance.

$3600/year for full coverage on the P5, and liability on my 95 Saturn. :(

edit: The insurer is Mutual Benefit.
