I sent my stock front and rear to Rafi at RR-racing.com to make inserts for the stock mounts... He said i was gonna have my mounts back 1-2 months... this was early december.. I will shoot him an emial tomorrow to see the progress and maybe a date..


Sxvin sent his mounts out to get all 4 new mounts mades... as of now now one makes all 4.. just the front and rear and the mazdaspeed #3 mount.

will you have multiple sets made and are they softer than awr? if so i would be interested. around how much ?

yes and yes like i said we will try to find a happy medium for the stiffness of the mount i dont want a lot of vibration eather so we are working on this... basicly what i am doing is having prototypes made and we will test the mounts to see if the are to soft to firm or just right the inserts will be able to be pressed out and a firmer or softer one could be inserted ino the mount with a press so basicly i am trying to design a motor mount set that can change with diffrent applacations ,hp etc a what do you guys think...and the first set should be finished at some point the shop that is doing them is a bit buisy but they are squeezing me in to do this and a fuel rail.

woo hoo. thanks for the update. can't wait - my 2 front mounts are torn - not bad, but bad enuf to get wheel hop if i'm not SUPER light with the clutch.

I am extremely interested as well - have been for quite some time.

Since I'm the impatient type I emailed another guy that races Proteges (named Jim) -- here is what he had to say. I emailed him some follow-up questions on the softer mounts...and asked if he makes/sells all 4 mounts (which I'm 99% sure he doesn't).

Here's his comments:

thanks for your questions. well.... they are the same mounts as you find at awr. we have ben working with our bushing people to develop a softer bushing. the problem with the protege is that the motor is bolted up on an angle. if you look at the upper mounts and how they sit you can see that the motor will twist sideways insted of rock back and fourth. I cant figure out why they did that? but it tends to destroy the soft bushings in our mounts, this is why we use the harder bushings. we did just get a softer batch that we think will help. a nother good way to cut down the vibration is to only use one of our mounts, front or rear. one will work great for a street car, and keep vibration to a minimum.
