internals can handle? I was talking to my boy today and he has been in the import scene for a while. He said we need to run like 10-12 lbs of boost. He said cause the car runs rich, it wont hurt to up the boost cause of the added fuel the computer dumps

any thoughts? suggestions? comments?

Hate to sound like a dick or anything, but why don't you do a search. All the successes/failures that everyone here has had with diffrent levels of boost has all been posted before.

10-12 daily is pushing it without timing control and other precautions...this car doesn't have forged internals and just because it runs rich does not mean its totally safe.

there's a lot of variables to take into consideration...like fuel, weather, how long you want your engine to last...etc.

I am planning on just adding the basic bolt ons. I would def like to add some boost, and keep all the insides INSIDE. I was a 5.0 guy for the last 10 years and I have no idea about this car, I bought it cause it was brand new, Turbo, and in my budget. It seems like a great little car, and all I wanna do is increase performance a wee bit-lol I see all these 3 letter abbreveations and I am totally lost. Please excuse my ignorance with this stuff, thats why I came here to learn.

My friend told me about bosst controllers, and Intake pipes and exhaust mods. Is there a company to go to or a company to look out for, cause where I came from Ford Motorsport had awesome s*** for 5.0 Mustangs. Does Mazda offer anything as far as hi-perf parts?

Mazda doesnt offer any aftermarket parts really for performance...do a search and you'll find theres a few vendors that offer performance parts for the MSP,

ION thread indicated that they got up to 17 psi pre flash and 14 psi post flash. ( with a cold air intake, etc)

To be safe, don't go over 12 psi or you will risk detonation. When the weather is cooler, you will notice your boost increases slightly if you have a boost controller.

The MSP has a higher than most compression ratio, so too much boost is bad.

Boost wisely and you will last a long time! And make more power!

I would keep it at stock boost for the winter, then put it around 9-10psi in warmer weather.

You'll hit fuel cut pretty early in the winter here...many people can't even run 8 psi in temperatures below freezing.

IMO the fuel cut is there for a reason...it's the amount of airflow Mazda deems 'safe'. It's definitely conservative, but better safe than sorry, especially for your daily driver :)

LOL dont go past 10 or you'll be the next victim with a broke piston..... the car cant handle 11-12-13-14 lbs on a daily basis. I know this for a fact especially when your miles are up in the 30,40k area. get better internals first and proper fuel management otherwise youll be in a rental car.

The car was orginaly slated to have 9psi from callaway? I think . And I think 8.5 to 9psi is pushing it to the max on the stock injectors with no other control on the timing.the injectors are said to hit 80 or 90 percent at this boost or more I think and you dont want to really push a injector past 80% duty cycle . You can do a search I think someone on here checked this out. I would look into engine management and timing control first . safe way to go.

I do believe we have forged rods and crank shaft . I dont have any info on the pistons though . I think upgrading the rod bolts would be wise before pushing 10-12 psi . at a minimum thats after fuel & timing engine management.

we have no forged internals. there small and scrony. also the car comes out of the box at around 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 psi. the key is in the pistons and rods. i've already experienced that and now I have a brand new motor and turbo. any questions feel free to ask.
