Whats the difference?

Well i wanted to get a MS3 or MS6 but i cant b/c of insurance reasons, so i decided to just get a normal 6, so i was wondering wats the difference between the models? and whats the best model to get and set up for racing?

Mazdaspeed6 is a totally different animal.

Turbocharged AWD vs. naturally aspirated FWD is the biggest single difference

Do you mean between the different mazda6's or between the 6 and the MS6? And personally the 6 is too big to race anyways, woulda went with the 3, perferably the MS3. A slightly modded MS3 would beat a stock MS6 at a track anyways wouldnt it?

it's debatable. ms3 would have a weight advantage, but the ms6 would have a launch advantage. and the higher in hp and especially tq you add to an ms3, the tougher a launch is going to be. catch 22 sort of thing. a modded ms3 with wider tires (slicks) and multiple control boost settings (low for launch, higher for later), or a bigger turbo that would cause more lag on launch but higher output hp would definitely be a force to reckon with

Yep, my thoughts exactly...but then take it to the streets or autox, the smaller car with less weight would help...but the awd might do ok as well.

But all this aside, I think he wanted to know the differences between the different types of mazda6's, like sedan or wagon or whatever. But I may be wrong...the differences between the 6 and the MS6 just seem so ovbious though.

i ment between the naturally aspirated ones cuz i cant afford the insurance for a MS3 or MS6 right now. ^^^so it would b better to get a 3 instead of a 6?

If your gonna stick to n/a get the mazda6.

i think the mazda 6s is 6 cylinder, and has the option of 6 speed. if i'm wrong someone correct me. but if you go to mazda's website you can get all the info you're looking for, instead of me just hypothesizing

ok so then with all that said...What would b the best decision if i want mod the car i.e. exhaust, CAI, turbo, intercooler, ECU, headers etc...

check out the mazda 6 section of the forums. there's a lot of how-tos and info regarding what you want to do, and what shouldn't be done. also there's a stickied thread somewhere that lists current vendors associated with products for mazdas.

How much difference could it possibly be for insurance?

according to my parents a lot more then what my brother is paying right now. They said itll be twice the ammount that my brother is paying right now which i dont fully believe cuz i think they jus dont want me to get a turbo charged car and im 17 and ill still b 17 when i get a car and my bro is 19 and they are goin to pay for insurance(lucky i kno) so they are trying to keep it equal. i jus don see how it would rly b twice as much, does a turbo rly make that big of a difference?

from what people have said, insurance difference among the turbo charged version and the N/A is minimal because they're still 4 door sedans/wagons.

i hope thats true cuz then i should b able to at least get the MS3, cuz now that i think about it the MS6 jus might b out of my price range but ill jus hav to wait and see i guess

Ok, first off...double double posts.

Second...if you really want to turbo a 6 or 3 you might as well just save up for a MS3 or MS6 and save yourself the hassle. If you want to mod but stick with n/a then go with the 3, it will be easier and cheaper to mod, 3 will be easier to turbo imo.

Third...this is the mazda6 section lol, but yeah, just search around and youll find pleanty of stuff to read.
