What's the deal with the Horn!

We only have one as supposed to two:confused:

It sounds SO wimpy!! I didn't notice during the test drive, but when I got home I wanted to test everything, and I did. I first thought the horn wasn't working properly, but now after looking under I see only one measly horn:eek:

Is everybody's horn the same or some idiot at the factory forgot to installed the other one?

You bet it's wimpy. I'm kinda embarassed sometimes to use the damn thing. My lil brother always makes fun of my horn even though he drives a beat up 90 Accord. At least his horn is a little "Masculine" you might say. I don't think people with their windows up even hear us when we honk at them. I guess it's something we'll just have to overlook. Maybe someone should invent a selective horn warning system. Like one button is for "move over!" and another is for "what the hell are you thinking?!" or maybe "green!" or "Signal!" I guess it's too vulgar to be legal, but hey, it's too easy to get a dang drivers license in California. An old lady that can't read or speak English well like my Mama can probably get a license, just like all those peeps in Little Saigon (Westminster,CA). Maybe I shouldn't diss my own peoples.......

there is an EASY solution....remove it.....buy a set of FIAMM air horns.....mount the little compressor...its about the size of a coke can, mount the twin horns....run the tubing from the compressor to the horns.....hook up the wire that went to the stock horn to the POSITIVE side of the compressor and then hook up a ground from the compressor to the car.....

BELIEVE ME ..... you WILL be heard after that. lol

I had some of these on a previous car....had a guy pull out in front of me...he was coming out of some appartments, he didn't even look...he never saw me....I just LAYED down on the horn and he NEVER straightened his wheels out to go straight...he just kept going till he ran back off the road!! lol guess he thought there was a truck bearing down on him.

wow, what a coincidence, i get s*** about my P5s horn from this one chick at school who drives an old 90s accord. now THAT thing has a horn. im thinking about changing mine just so when she gives me s***, i wait for her to walk by my car and lay on it. heh heh heh.

I changed mine out with 2 FIAMM horns.

Freeway Blaster High Note and Freeway Blaster Low Note.

Together they sound great. nice and loud scares the SH!T out of people.

Yes!, I got those FIAMM air horns on my protege. When you press it going through a tunnel HOLY s***! Sounds like a god dam MACK TRUCK coming.

Best upgrade ever LOUDER THEN HELL!

Blow people right off the dam road.

I think the my Pro5's horn is pretty loud, that's just me. But what's really loud is the horn that my dad has on his Tribute. That thing demands attention.

My dad bought a brand new 1993 Mazda Protege DX back in the day. The horn hasn't changed one bit.

Just some useless info.

...

I had an 89 Honda Accord. The horn sounded really sucky, just like the Protege5. It's a horrible, horrible sound. I've never used it after I heard it when I bought my Protege5.

HeHe..sorry for the delayed reaction but..i just wanted to add to the shame of our horns.
When i first tapped it, i knew something must be done!
My first upgrade will be the horn, thats for sure!
I have yet to use my horn since, and use my highbeams when i want to let someone know they are an A-Hole!
:p

what would replacing the horn do to the alarm on the car? also, ive got the factory alarm on my car, so when i hit the lock button on the keyring-alarm-deal twice, it beeps the horn. would a new horn affect this?
