Whats the BEST turbo timer ?

They all do pretty much the same thing and have different feature sets.

Personally I used to have the HKS Type 1. It has lots of timing features, shift lights, volt meter and so on but it does not have a built in boost gauge.

Others have built in boost gauges but not some of the other extras. It really is personal preference.

I also have the HKS type-1. Definately has good features. You can get your 0-60 times, 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, 60' ect (not extremely accurate, but gives you an idea). Like jrodhotrod said it monitors your battery voltage and is easy to use. I have the blitz dual TT/boost guage before and it was convenient. I like the HKS better. www.**********.com has them with free shipping.

im gonna put it on the steering wheel column so i dont really care about size. and yes i researched if hks had the built in boost gauge it would have been the best. im gonna get a boost controller later so i can use that for digital boost monitering and my greddy boost gauge is pretty accurate too . is it easy to install the type 1 ? do i have to tap in bunch of s*** to get all that readings ? and also how much hp will i gain from this mod at stock boost ?

Okay, just looked at your mod list and your dedicated boost gauge is fine so that's not a feature need for you.

If IIRC installation is not that difficult and there are how-to's floating around on the forum somewhere that tell you exactly which wires to tap.

You'll need to tap 3 wires for power needs then you can easily tap the wires going into your speedo cluster for RPM, parking brake, and other needs. It's been a while since I installed mine so I don't remember exactly what is needed.

And I hope you are kidding, about the HP. A turbo timer gains you absolutely nothing in terms of performance. It will help you lengthen the life of your turbo by letting the car cool down with causing you the in-convenience of having to sit there while it does so. If you get something like the HKS-Type I you will have plenty of other toys to go along with basic timer functions.

Also you are gonna have to do something with relays to get it to work with your factory alarm if you are still using it. The same holds true for an aftermarket alarm.

im selling my blitz fatt type x. it has an in-cabin thermometer, voltmeter, and like 5 diffferent timing set ups. and best of all, you can adjust the color of the display. i used it for less than 6 months. $65 shipped.

You are, don't use boost 60 seconds before turing off the car and a turbo timer will be totaly useless. If you must get one, install a remote starter, most of them have a turbo timer function. I bought a DEi Viper 160XV remote starter for my girlfriends protege na dit has the option aswell. It was $149 over the counter without install.

.
You will need to tap into three wires off your ignition (red 12v constant, blue 12v when key is on, and black/white accessory), then you need to tap into two wires off your ECU (I can get you the pin numbers if you want), and then the wire coming from your parking brake. It took me about an hour with soldering to get everything taken apart and put back together, but I'm an electrician so it would probably take you a little longer if you are careful.

The blitz would be easier for you to wire because you only have to tap into the three wires off the ignition and the one for your parking brake.

There is a big problem with the whole "turbo timer on your alarm" quote... no shop that has any desire to stay in business will install a remote start on a manual transmition... unless you know how to do this yourself, and want to take the risk of jumping your car through the garage, don't bother with a remote start...

i have the apexi TT nd it works fine. its small and has a voltometer/timer function/af ratio(useless without wideband) and o2 on it. small and nice. as for the alarm thing. mine works fine. wire it before the alarm. my shop did it (i dont mess with electrionics) and its wonderful. if your THAT worried about leaving the car unlocked or locked just manually lock it right when you get out. then it still locks itself when the countdown is over

The best turbo timer is one that works and fits into the scheme that you have in your cabin. They all have about the same functions, install easily, and count down. Find the one that you appreciate the appearance and has the functions you are looking for. That said, I have the APEXi TT and love it. Install was cake and I like the small size. The features on it are pretty common amongst TTs and it looks nice.
