Wow, I haven't been back to the forum for a couple of days...didn't think this would get such a response.
Bottom line is that these cars fit different tastes, and that's fine. Chacun son gout!
I guess the reason why I originally posted this is to find out if other people thought the same thing as me- new is not necessarily better.
When I bought my P5 in 2001, the choices were very few for hatchbacks (this was before Matrix, Vibe and the new Honda came out). Even with all the new cars that have come out since, I still like the P5 better. I actually like the RX-7 way better than the RX-8 too. It's the classic lines and simple body.
After 3 years of ownership I still have people asking me what my car is and telling me how nice it looks. That's gotta tell you something...
