Okay, I know this may be a very biased poll, but which is hotter- Mazda 3 or P5?

Mazda 3 Looks okay from the front but I don't like that pointy back and oversized badging...ughhh

P5 - I like the P5's lines and stance much better. The 3 looks kinda' beefy to me - though it still looks better than many other new compacts out there

the 3 looks nice and all... but it looks kind'a hunchbacked... the p5's lines are just ......perfect ...

neither....my mazdaspeed... lol...

yes it is a very biased poll considering u posted in the p5 section. BUT definetly the P5. I had the option of P5 or Mazda 3. guess which one i chose. Even tho i had to settle for a used one, i stick by my decision and dont regret it for a minute.

the 3 looks like Mazda was trying to cross-breed a P5 with a PT Cruser.
I personally haven't liked it since the first day I layed eyes on it.
(which incidently was the day I bought my P5)

[I do however, love the 6 waggon]

i like the 5. because the 3 was a replacement, i was worried i would want to trade my 5 in, and at the very least i really really really WANTED to like the 3, but i think it looks HIDEOUS!!! i hate the stance of it, and the thing that REALLY makes me dislike it is the SHELF of a body line it has running along it. the p5 has a much more subtle body line...i could put a king size drink from BK on the line of the 3.

Pro 5 Is Wayyyy Sexxyer, But...

Even though the pro 5 is quite possibly the best looking wagon ever (I don't even think thats stretching the truth too much)...the 3 will walk all over in performance and the interior I believe is better as well.

and if you say you can tune the pro5 to be faster...in a year or so that wont be the case dollar for dollar that 2.3 monster 4 will pound the pro 5 in every racing event...just a thought, again, I vote for the pro 5 NO CONTEST (but as speed/proformance go...the 3 walks much taller)

I like the Mazda3, but the style doesn't compete with the P5 IMO... I voted for the P5

Psychologists might argue that you guys are having a hard time letting go of the past. Or perhaps you guys are just biased (and rightfully so) considering the vast majority of you have P5's. Fast forward a few years and ask yourself what the current crop of M35 owners would say if asked the same question. To use a tired old cliche, beautify is in the eye of the beholder. No one wants to admit, at first, that the car that has replaced theirs is superior in any way. However, if you can successfully distance yourself you may be able to see things clearly. Though not a huge fan of the M35 styling, the good definitely outweighs the bad. After test driving a 3 it's clear that the quality level (inside) is FAR superior to any Protege I've ever been in (including mine) That has to count for something! In addition to that, it's got one hell of a chassis and powertrain. It's a brand new car! Just think of the potential that engine has.

The thread starter said we can define "hot" however we like. It's clear that most of you guys are only interested in the exterior. As you can tell, I for one am just as interested in the interior. Though the design of the new car is a bit "bizarre" (for lack of a better term) it's a design, like most others, that will gradually grow on the public.

Lastly, though there are some members on here with some truly amazing P5's... (cars that make my MSP look like crap!) the stock incarnation is anything but "hot" in my oppinion. Though I'm obviously in the minority, to me it's just a moderately attractive station wagon (in stock form). In comparison, the new car doesn't strike me as such. (which should definitely be a good thing considering the negative stigma attached to wagons in general.) Instead, it reminds me a lot of the kinds of cars I saw while living in Barcelona.

I'd do it if I knew how... someone should post a picture of the two cars side by side.
