Getting intake first? or exahust system?

My cousin is telling me that having a new exahust (whole thing including the header) allow the air to flow better, thus give you a better boost. (not sure if this is the actual translation from Chinese).

I would say the exhaust system, it will let the engine breathe a little better, besides, the gains from intakes are minimal.

go with the exhaust first and the add the intake. If you'll add the intake first the engine is getting more air, but it cant' get rid of it as fast.

Yea, I think that's what my cousin said. Man, I was looking around for the whole cat back exahust (exahust, middle tube?)for JICS, they range around 900 bucks? That's some investment...

i assume you have a msp by the "thus give you more boost"

if that is the case, exhaust for sure. if you're na, i'd actually say intake because the exhaust on the na although standard and not designed for power, it's not a huge hole in the performance of the engine. the intake is more of a let down on the na setup

Wow, $900. Do take into consideration that most asvertised prices for JIC products are the MSRP and they typically sell for less. Make sure you give Rishie & Sean of Auto R&D a call before you bail on the JIC exhuast. 408-947-0505 He has ProtegeMP3 club member pricing. So it should be a bit cheaper than that.

Eventually I'll get both intake and exahust. Though, I like to know what to get first, hence it will be a while until I am able to afford the next one.

Also, ya...I'm planing on give Rishie a call or email them. I'm hoping the price will be alot cheaper than 900. Anybody know around how much on the whole JICs cat back?

if you can only get ONE first....get the exhaust. then the intake. and as for the header? well just keep in mind that by installing a header it will make your car illegal in most areas...and won't pass inspeciton.....and unless it has the O2 ports on it already....you will be driving around with that CEL light looking at you from the dash.

Get your exhaust first.....I did, well its on the way!!! I got the Greddy EVO catback because it is not as loud as others, so I hope it doesn't sound honda civicy. I will post pics of it when I put it on, but I think I will be putting my APEXI S-AFC in first even though it might not work. I hope it does......
