What would you do? - replacing under panel

I hit a bit of old tire in the road a while ago and damaged the under panel on my 07 Speed3. This is the plastic panel that protects the engine components against....old tires and crap.

The panel was broken on one end so I took it off. The dealer wants about $260 to replace it (along with a new side mounting panel as well). The money isn't an issue for me, however I've been driving the car for over a month without the panel now and I'm debating if I even want to bother to replace it.

Thoughts??

What if you hit something again, and due damage to the engine components. Knowing my luck, it would happen again. My thoughts.

That's a very slight risk. I haven't hit anything in the road, except for this one event, that would cause damage under the car in 40 years of driving.

Is this the tray you take off to get to the oil filter?

I had the same thing happen tome and was quoted 200 as well for the undertray. I would just drive without it untill you get one, Philly B said he drove his for over 40k an a few other members as well. I have been runing no undertray for a few months now.

I was driving, saw the tire, slowed for teh car parralel to me to get over into my lane to avoid except he just ran it over and shot it under my car.

I was hella pissed, now my bumpers ugly as s*** and it ****** my back bumper as well.

Worst timing too cuz I orders a dp rp and some cobb springs so I was broke.

It pissed me off to all hell cuz My car is looking and sounding great but now I got that eye sore to look at.
