What type of sparkplugs does the Mazda 5 Use

Would like to change the plugs on my car but don't know if they use Platinum or Iridium? Is there a differeence? On my VIBE GT I use the Iridium NGK brand.

NGK Iridium will be good, just stay with what Mazda recommends. All the fancy ones are a waste of $$. NGK's should last 50-75M miles easy.

The Iridiums are like $12-$15 ea. I opted for the $3 platniums. Work fine. I did use NGK's.

The factory OEM sparkplugs are a combination of iridium and platinum. The OEM Plug replacements are $11-13 each, and are designed to last over 75k miles as are the originals. So far, there have been 2 different sized spark plugs used in the Mazda5 2.3L motor, so make certain you compare old vs. new. When I replaced my plugs, 2 of the plugs were already lose in the threads of the head.

From the 2006 Mazda 5 Manual:

Spark-plug number L303 18 110*
Spark-plug gap 1.25―1.35 mm (0.049―0.053 in)

If I remember right in the engine compartment it shows a 4 prong spark plug?

I am about to change the plugs on my wife's Highlander. I saw theses as an option "Bosch Platinum IR Fusion Spark Plugs". I am going to see if they have any for the M5. They're showing for 7.99 at AutoZone. I saw the above post about a 4 electrode plug. I thought the NGK's were only 1 electrode.
Here's the site: http://www.boschautoparts.com/sparkplugs/Pages/PlatinumIrFusion.aspx
These are actually cheaper than the NGK Iridiums and, According to the Autozone website, the NGK's only have a Copper Core, while the Bosch have an Iridium and Platinum Core.
I think I'm gonna do this on one of the next few weekends. I'll post if there are no Bosch options.

Just found out that Auto Zone carries the "Bosch Platinum IR Fusion Spark Plugs", item 4505, for the 06 mazda 5. Gonna try them out.

Just an FYI, the original equipment spark plugs are a Platinum/Iridium combination, and good to 75-100k miles.

Be sure that the replacement plugs are the same thread length. There are 2 different styles used in the Mazda5 so far, so be sure to compare new vs. old side by side!

Will do mazdadude. The question begs though: what is the difference between the 2 different styles? (aside from the obvious length).
