that is the only turbo u can use with ur factory manifold. now you can get a
t03/04 but you will need a mani to go with it. good luck. ballbearing turbos are more expensive!!

lots gt28rs "like" turbo's and such on the internet that are garbage. stick w/ legit sites.

if the the RS is too expensive why not settle for a gt28r. they are single ball bearing so they are cheaper. they can be found for 7-800 new, and the flanges will still work w/ our stock mani.

Everything I read online lists the GT2xR models as "dual ball bearing".. including the stock MSP turbo.. http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/m...OD&Product_Code=GRT-TBO-001&Category_Code=GRT

I want a turbo that will spool quickly and not be oversized. the only one that ever comes to mind is the 28 rs. the same is with many other cars too.
what is the difference with the gt28 r and the 28rs. turbine housing?

Why not upgrade the T25 with MPNick's upgrade?
It's pretty damn sweet, and happens to be on my *wish list*

you mean the GT25R.. don't shortchange the stock turbo, seems to be a nice unit in the time I've had mine :)

I am also wanting to get this done. Just called nick about it today. I am only wanting the turbo to be modded though. I already have a GHL S-pipe and am having a custom manifold made right now so I will not be needing the stock ones at all.

does anyone know how much nick charges and how long the turn around is? For some of us this is our daily driver can't have it down for a week.

it takes about a week and its about 650, but its the best money i spent, by far

isn't the stock turbo to much as it is for our rods?

only at a higher boost level, and you could still survive a long time on the stock rods if fuel and timing are managed accordingly. riskier of course though.

that '650' that was mentioned above includes porting and polishing of the exhaust manifold and s-pipe. if you're not getting those done, it might be cheaper.

the best stock turbo dyno ive seen i am pretty sure wa tekkies and put down like 250whp and the turbo still had more room to go. I m sure you can get over 250 if you have a efficient system and good tuning. I dont see anyone needing more then what mpi nick can do to the stock turbo. i dont think i know anyone that has even got his top of the line upgrade to it and people are making great numbers with just the first stage upgrade for 650

I forgot about nick. I will have to think about him and 28rs. I dont know if I would be happy with a t25 for long. I am getting close to an engine build. I really want to see what my car can do. even thinking about stripping the interior this summer as it is not a daily anymore

if you're doing an engine build, why not wait till you pull the motor before you do anything w/ the turbo.

that way you don't have to worry about down time if you do nick's upgrade, and the install will be 10x easier w/ the engine out. not only that but you can pick the right turbo for the specs of the motor.

my friend was quoted 200 for just mpi's turbo upgrade w/o mani and dp pnp w/ a week turnaround time. sounds like a steal for me, if you stock turbo is in good shape.

take it from someone who got the 28rs before the motorbuild, do the build first.

the gt28rs efficiency range is 12-22psi. if you plan on running lower than 12psi (which you should w/ stock internals), you're better off running 10-12psi on a stock turbo. not only that but you'll have to modify the actuator on the gt28rs b/c its set at 12psi.
