Hey I need a Turbo timer...Any recommendations?

I was thinking of getting an A'Pexi Turbo timer because it has more options like O2 sensors and battery meter...whooooooo. Its really sleek looking I could probally mount it on top of my steering coloumn.

Or HKS Type 0 or Type 1. They said its okay and its really not worth the price...but look way lot nicer. Does it have boost control built in? I heard Type 1 is pretty sweet but is it worth the price?

Or Greddy...which isjust cheap...$75 and they throw in installation. I think they said it had a stop watch as an added function...whoooo

What would you guys recommend?

Hey, I forgot to say welcome, nice color. I am new here also, picked up my MSP last Tuesday the 16th. I'm also looking for a TT but not sure was risks if any are involved, ie: stalling, etc.
I have not even began to look at them. I just let engine idle for a minute or two before shutting off.
:D

Good Luck

HKS TYPE 0 easy install and works great you can set what time you want to count down I have it set auto it judges how long you have been driving and then counts down .

I dunno, just a question. This is my first turbo car, I know nothing about them. I am just trying to gather information to further educate myself on these cars, so any help/advice is greatly appreciated. :D

yes, why 1st? the only reason why i'm thinking about it is when i'm in a hurry and don't want to wait a minute or two.

also, how long does everyone let theirs cool down for? the manual says 30 seconds, but something tells me that is a minimum. i always wait at least a minute. i've also heard that you don't want to let it idle for too long. not sure why.

hook a brotha up

mine is set for 30 seconds. i usually stay out of boost when driving around to school and work anyways.

I've got the GReddy Full Auto. It's got lots of features, but I don't even use them:) I keep mine set at 1:30 because I'm really hard on my car, and do a lot of freeway driving. Is that too much time?

None don't waste the money.
i agree, just drive easy for the last minute or 2 (staying out of boost), then let it sit for ~30 secs. the money can be used on things that will make you go faster :)

I vote Blitz. I have one and love it. It has a manual and auto coutdown as well as a built in boost gauge, a very handy thing if you plan on getting a boost controller in the near future. Oh, and it also has a warning chime if you boost past a preset level. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I found out Apexi dont make wiring harness for Speed Protege so anyone have problem hotwiring it. Ah...I just going to go with the Type0...its no hassel.

Why do you say that?

Simple, most people's drivivng style doesn't require it.
As long as you don't use boost 30 seconds before turning off the car, there's no issue.

I for one never use boost while driving the 2 minutes through my neighborhood on the way home or atleast a minutes through the streets to get to work. Even if you stop at a rest stop off the highway, ususaly yolur slowing down for 15 second and by the time your ready to get out 30 seconds has past.

Unless you are really boosting hard there is no reason to wait more then 30 seconds after using boost.

Keep in mind its 30 seconds from using boost not from getting back to idle. YOu can be on the highway for 2 hours and aslong as you didn't use boost 30 seconds before turning off the engine, your fine.

When selecting a TT, what would I search for for a harness to plug into factory? I can not seem to find any adapters except for the RX-7.
