I was looking at some FCs for sale on the net (imported directly from japan, right hand drive and all) and id like to know what are the things i should look out for ?

Well first of all, is it true that rotaries are always at the garage being fixed ? hehe, i could afford the FC and a few mods but can't really afford it being in the shop all the time to fix stuff

any advice ? I don''t know much about rotaries ... i'm not planning on doing a 10sec car but just a few mods to be "faster'' than a stock one just for the hell of it. ive always loved rx7. FDs are way too expensive around here for what they are. In general, people are asking over 20k for like a 93 with 120,000km i would buy it if i had the money, but i also love FCs and can pick up one of those japanese ones for under 6k with pretty much the same mileage

thanks alot, you were the one i was thinking about when i wrote that post hehe

They're awesome cars, but I've almost forgotten what it's like to drive mine, now. =/ It's been at the frigging shop for months, now. New engine and all that. *sighs* One problem after another, I swear.

At any rate... When they're running, and you take good care of them, they're perfectly reliable, for sure. Most shops hate dealing with them, though, unless they're specialized, at least as far as I've found. They didn't really have many problems, surprisingly; Just a lot were owned by people who abused them, or just never took care of them, in my experience.

no prob. if you need any more info let me know

no no, that's exactly what i need. i know the good sides ... i wana hear the horror stories. i know they are VERY capricious cars and will break all the time if you don't take EXTRA care

i didn't really have time to search on the net for more info so i thought id ask here since it's a mazda board. i know that before i buy one, if i ever do, ill try to find a kind of maintenance guide to know what to do and check to make sure the car is ok n stuff. The comp test was pretty much the only thing i knew about testing the engine's health

there's a nice stock FD at a mazda dealer around here ... 72000km, looks brand new ... its still stock or they did a freakin good job of putting everything back to stock, the under side of the car looks amazing (really never saw winter) ... but they want 24000$ CDN

i didn't have any problem with my motor in my '90 gtu. the tranny was gone at 120k miles and the driveshaft was cracked, but it ran strong up until the day i got rid of it.

cool thanks for the info

up to about how much hp is the stock engine good for ? cant really buy forged pistons/rods for that thing lol

you guys tell me at which point you want me to stop asking questions and start searching for real lol

i was looking at the rx7club website ... people running 20psi on T78 turbos and like 400rwhp .... that's nice =) the stock turbo FC is like 200hp i think .. im not looking for anything more than 300 or whatever wont cost me 10k

you can get a turboII and get a FCD, exhaust, intake and boost cont. at about 10-12psi you will be in the 250-260 WHP range
