what to do to make lights stop going dim?

lol, i just noticed today, if im sitting in a parking space with the car running, and i turn my steering wheel a little bit, just enough to get the power steering to come on, the engine rpms drop. maybe this happens on all cars / im just an idiot but i laughed becuase i thought of this thread and was like wow, the wonders of a 4 cyl. hahhaaah, kinda like turning the ac on except its more ridiculous when its your steering. ha, just thought id share.

im waiting to hear back from a sales rep for ohio genirator (a company that makes high output alt's) ill post any info i get from them. a dim in the lights is caused by a strain on the electrical system. if a high output alt is put in it should solve the problem, adding an extra batt will help but the alt is a good place to start

def let us know

well...

If you want to help your battery out, all you need to do is attach a large 0 guage ground wire from the battery to the chassis. you don't even need to take out the one that is already there. adding another will help return current drawn by the stereo. changing the other ground wires won't do much for you since they are such short lengths. bottom line, our alternators are s*** and our car's idle at low rpms. the current just isn't there. a cap or extra battery won't fix the dimming. my lights dim even when i'm above 3000 rpms.

also, i forgot about this........i used to have a current gun...it's just a clamp that measures fields around a wire and you hook it to a voltmeter to see the current being drawn. i was drawing an insane amount of current until i changed my battery and disconnected the factory kenwood amp. the old battery read well over 12 volts so i think disconnecting the amp that i never used made a difference. if you haven't already you might as well.
