what the hell is mazda thinking??

Sources tell us the standard engine will be a 1.8-liter VVT four, with a possible rotary engine offered as an option.

THAT WOULD BE BADAZZZZZ!!
 
i wouldn't be too surprised if mazda did something like that, as they are clearly making their brand identity stronger and more distinctive.
 
Instead of looking at a long-discredited hack photoshop job, check out the Ibuki that's currently on show at the Tokyo show.

It is not the 2006 Miata, and the hybrid drivetrain will NOT make production. But it's a hell of a lot closer than the silver car.

Expect the 1.8 VVT to die. It's an old engine. Do not expect a rotary in the Miata.
