What size battery to get?

:
2009 Mazda 5 Sport
Oddly, after replacing the PMM last weekend I've had to jump my car twice in 3 days. I'm sure they're not related but I thought I would include it. What's more likely is that my OEM battery is finally going after nearly 8 years so it's time for a replacement

According to the battery fit guide at Autozone, the 35 batteries are what are made to fit but apparently a 26 will work also. The 26 is a little smaller but specs are similar. Wondering if anyone has ever gone this route?

I have the 26 I believe. (I may have gone to the 35 this last time when I went from red to gold top) I go through them about every 2 years. In fact, I'll be due another this summer I bet. Since all metals that are used to construct batteries are from China, the quality has gone to pot. There are only 3 batteries I have been able to find that offer more than a 1-year warranty: the Autozone gold top (but I think they changed the pro-rata last year) one from O'Reilly's and a First Interstate. Even Optima batteries have seen their warranties drop back to 1 year.
If you got 8 years, I am amazed, but I realize 99% of the discrepancy btw your exp and mine is environment.

I decided on the Duralast 35 Gold from Autozone. $20 mail-in rebate will make it $104 after core charge. Going to throw it in tonight

There are quite a few options. From affordable to over the top expensive. You can still find batteries with good warranty coverage. You can stick in whatever size battery you want as long as it fits in the pretty large box this car has. I went upsize to group 34. Sac02 went with a tiny Honda Fit battery (b/c turbo). Find a battery that you like, size that you like, stick it in and you are good to go.
