That's personal opinion there, I have a custom 3" exhaust with a HKS hi-power and love it. If your going to run it catless you will NEED a resonator. I tried to get by with just the straight piping but it was too loud, with a resonator it's just right.

you'll probably want a resonator even with a cat... I have a 3" custom on my msp with a tsubo cf muffler which I don't recomend and a hi-flow cat. First I had no resonator and without the silencer it was way too loud and the silencer just robbed so much power. I added a resonator and now it sounds just right
