What should I do next?

So what vendors are the best for this s-pipe? Who should I go through? Thanks for all the input guys.

...ya not too many vendors sell s-pipes ... in fact - no one does.

ghl comes close, but it's the s-pipe and the curved section right off it in one piece (meaning you wouldnt be able to use a piece like the apex dp).

best bet is to go custom, or just hold off for now (and pray that a replacement s-pipe comes out). i think apexr1 is working on one ...

Go with the GHL pipe. It starts at the turbo (replaces stock S-pipe) and runs down to where your catback exhaust starts. And Im pretty sure its 3in. Theres a pretty long thread on it. Just dont know where...

The setup I am reffering to is a one time flash to the ecu. There can be a flash for stock boost levels with refined fuel/ignition maps and a high boost setup. This software is dyno tuned. I am not 100% sure on the Mazdaspeeds ECU, this is technology we have available for Bosch Motronic ECU's(VW/Porsche/Audi).
The IDEAL way to do it would be to have a programmable replacement ECU ala Hondata K-Pro (www.hondata.com). You send them your ECU and they send you one back with an integrated USB port and software. All you do is plug it back into the stock harness, connect it to a laptop, upload your maps, and you're good to go. You can also monitor and datalog everything and reset codes.

I know that a lot of people think that this is impossible with our ECU, but if Mazda/Ford can reflash it, so can we. It's just about figuring out the programming.

nice car casopalis(and nice pics of it too)....I want mine to look like that someday(different, but secks on wheels like urs...lol)...Yeah, I'd definatly hit the S-pipe, Oliver Rods and Pistons(pricey, but definatly worth it, makes engine strong and you won't have to worry about anything..I plan on going through Oliver for my rods when I finally hit some cash, but there are others, JE pistons, Pauter Rods, etc...definatly get some form of forged rods at the least, as they are the weakest part of the engine and are 99% of the time, responsible for popped motors), maybe a Joe P FCD(Fuel Cut Defence), maybe if no S-pipe, midpipe http://www.essentialspeed.com/shop/detail.asp?product_id=ESmidpipemspd , an FMU http://www.essentialspeed.com/shop/detail.asp?product_id=ESmspdstage3 there is also a B.E.G.I. kit on www.corksport.com under protege, mazdaspeed, all ummm, trying to think here...maybe check out the Delsing Clunk Fix, maybe a short shifter I believe kartboy has a shifter Bushings kit that is super cheap and awesome...check it out..thats all I can thingk of right now, if I think of anything else, I'll be back...

So the GHL pipe would replace my apex w/hi flow cat?

Hmmm....looks like I am going to put a lot of money into this car over time. I will need to have the engine stuff installed by a tuner, which sucks. It will cost even more. The short shift and bushings I can install myself....not too sure about the FMU....seems like an "easy" install. But the internals, engine mounts, etc will need to be installed by them. There are a couple in Toledo, OH.....anyone know of a good tuner in Ohio?

Here is a question.....is it worth it to throw all of this $ into a Protege? With front wheel drive and all. Seems like this kind of money thrown into another car would produce even better results. Not dissing my protege.....just taking a step back.
