What is this indentation on rear bumper? 2024 CX-5 Premium

Pardon all the dirt, roads have been messy the last few days. I’m wondering what the vertical indentation is on the bottom of the bumper on my 2024 Premium. I haven’t noticed this on other CX5s.

All seem to have it. Mine has it too.
No idea whats the deal with that.
May be to help
center cut the bumper for the oem hitch. At least thats what I used it for

Our 2024 has it too. Never noticed it before. Something must go there...a reflector?

No clue. At least in the parts catalogs I couldnt find one.

I think it just helps mark the center of rear bumper.

yup going with centering the template for the bumper. either that or some Mazda designer thought it looked nice.....
