I was just curious what this little "vent" was for. I did some searching but couldn't find an answer.

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about.

i thought that was a speaker for the beeping we get when the doors are ajar/lights are left on/ setablet is not on/etc
but i could be wrong.

I was looking around more and apparently it sounds like that "vent" is for a temp sensor for 3's with climate control, which of course we don't get here in NA, I always found it strange that you can get a 3 with navigation but no climate control.

That explains why theres nothing behind it.

When I had my Mazda 3, that lil thingy lite up orange in the dark when I would step into the car.

no thats not the vent that lights up, there is another light nest to it that lights up when you get in the car so you can see where the ignition is.

Its so if theres ever an electrical shortage you would easially be able to notice it as smoke would be coming out from that vent.

i thought it was a sensor for the radios volume control the cabin noise sensor? what do you think (stoned)

Two Answers:
1. It's where the cabin temperature is read in vehicles with auto climate control. If you have a pre-2006 car in North America, it's a generic hole in your dash.

2. That where I mounted the arming switch for my air horns. (2thumbs)
