What is this box for?

I'm putting some 6x9's in my rear deck of my speed. (please no comments about not putting 6x9's in I'm well aware of the pro's and con's already) I have the back deck off and there are wires going thru the one of the 6x9 cutouts. (2) wires go down to somekind of black box attached to the stock sub bracket. What is this box for? My stock sub setup is not going back in the car. I wanted to remove the brackets but this box is attached to them. I'm thinking of splicing the wires and rerouting them thru another hole in the deck but would really like to know what I'm cutting into! Then remount the box somewhere else.

I am making a custom enclosure and want to remove the bracket but some box that I think has something to do with the alarm is preventing this. anyone have any ideas what it really is?

s*** I just spliced them.. did this about 3 weeks ago no problems so far just make sure batt is off!

i think it's the box that tells them alarm when you open the trunk. could be wrong tho, thats what i've always thought it was anyway. let us know if you find out what it really is
