What is the widest tire I could fit?

I just got some new rims and now I need some tires. I have a friend who has a set that will fit the rims but the are 245/40/R18. Would 245 Be too big? I'm not lowered at the moment but springs are next after rims. Any help would be great!

The rims are not stock. They are Work Emotions 18 x 8.5

245 will fit fine on the wheel. What is the offset of the wheels?

Like said you should be fine with that offset. Roll fenders for sure.
I run a 18x8.5 with a 38 offset on a 235/40/18 tire and rolled both front and back with a tad of a pull on the front, But I am also dropped on H&R springs so I sit lower then stock height.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm ordering Lowering springs next so even if they fit fine now, ill definitely need to roll a bit.
Just another question that someone brought up to me, I currently have 215/45/R18 on my stockers right now and I've heard people say that those will fit a 8.5 rim with minimal stretch. I'm not a fan of the "stanced" look but would that really look too bad since 215 mm is about 8.5" What are the thought on that?
