Doing a DIY turbo setup on my 92 miata, And wanted to know what is the best kind of intercooler piping? Mild steel is out dont realy want to deal with the rust and stuff. i have lots of 304ss tubing, and some good 6061 aluminum tubing of different dia and wall thickness to pick from. And even some Ti.
Thanks.

well, Aliminum takes a REAL pro (and I mean you have to be good or it looks bad) to weld up. Stainless is more durable, and easier to weld. 304SS gives you the option of polishing if you wanted also.

mild steel works fine, but it has to be coated perfecty, and never get scratched or it will rust. Ti is over kill, and because it can't be mandrel bent without a SUPER mega expensive machine people cut slivers and weld them together to make radiuses, which some people like the look of, and others hate.

my choice would be SS, just for simplicity and cost.

if you have lots of the aluminum laying around and have the skill go with that.
otherwise just go with the stainless steel
