Will a used 1990 323 engine ( and 5 speed) easily transfer to an '88 w/ 4 speed? What are the differences to be concerned about? Computer and harness? ....Transmission mounts ...or shafts? Intake?

These are listed by Hollander as two seperate engines, why?

Any helpful info is appreciated.

Yes I have posted this question on other forums. If there was ONE good forum I would post there. Intead, there are a bunch of halfast sites

As far as I know the '90 donor is also a hatchback.

okay I think the distributor might be electronic on the '90.

Not really sure what kind of site you are expecting, but here's a link that could help, anyway:

We did this swap years ago for 88323GT similar to this. I think we installed a 1.6 SOHC Mx3 engine though but the setup is almost the same. Give him a PM.

I want a 323 GTX, how much should I offer? I found one locally with a little under 100k miles and in pretty good shape.

I know the original post was some time ago but for anyone that comes along needing this info now, the 87-90 drive trains are completely interchangeable. Direct swap. That is, provided you're dealing with base models (1.6L N/A).
