What have you done to your P5 today?

well managed to get mine all apart tonight.. thanks cheese for the tips on the PB blaster and hammer with the new screwdriver. the screws all came out with the screwdriver, and the white part of mine is all cracked where the metal was covering it. luckily all my new pieces are waiting for me minus the new gasket which should be at the dealer tomorrow. hopefully i have a leak free system for the weekend

ya, i thought the issue was the plastic cracking? mine was fine?

I hope you're right about that, the new gasket might only be a temporary fix. The good news is that if it does fail again those screws will be easy to remove :)

Well, after the unfortunate Zoom-Zoom going boom, I had the car towed to a family friends shop and we talked it over and the car will be getting a new(ish) motor dropped in and while he has the car it'll be getting a new control arm assembly in the front passenger side, and stabilizer links all the way around.. aswell as a fix in the exhaust, oxygen sensors,an oil change on the new engine, two new rear tires, new ebrake cable, new engine mounts... and a few other misc things.

Total bill due next Wednesday on pickup: $1550.00

can't wait to get my car back, and then repaint the whole thing titanium grey and drop a 5spd tranny into it.

drove it to work. ah no more clunck after changing sway bar bushing and control arms!! ahh feels great. just need to adjust the steering wheel today

MP5, that's actually a really good deal for all the stuff you listed.

Rico, congrats, man! I bet you're back in love with your P5 again.

For real though! How many miles are on the replacement engine? My trans died at 111k, I had it taken out, taken apart to see if it was fixable, found a trans with 88k, had it shipped from Washington state to NC, installed, motor mounts filled, and fluids replaced all for $1,025.00. Shop did all of this for me while I was at the beach. I thought I got a good deal.

your sir are correct. all thats left is to re scan engine light again and see what code(s) are left and hopefully have that light dissapear and ill be happy. car will get an aligment next week and tires balanced and rotated and an oil change and it should be okay.

Good s*** bro! Finally all the dedication to finding the source payed off haha.

yep almost 400 bucks later tho fml lol rods were bad and control arms and bushings all at once :( smh

$400 that has extended your cars life. $400 worth of parts that are brand new and not 200k miles old

nope. those parts had been ALL changed no more than probably 1 yr ago. soo eh not so great. if they would of been 200k and now needed replacement I would of been fine with that and the 400 expence lol

well the car and original motor had 193k kilometers on them(im from canada lol) and the replacement motor is said to have approx 45k kilometers on it... my trans is also about to go... ill be doing the swap all on my lonesome though.

new brembo blanks and hks pads installed today with new hardware!
turns out the old pads were actually still really good (about 45% life!)
but one of the rotors was warped and both just looked ugly since they were originals

think anyone would want to buy a set of used hks pads? how much would they go for?
i am going to be selling my 12mm spacers since i was stubborn and wanted beefy tires (it rubs when driven hard)

im embarrassed of asking azuelke for 8mm spacers since i now work at a machine shop and can make them myself >.<

ONE last thing... ever since i installed a new alternator it has like a supercharger whine. it is louder when the headlights are on. i've read a couple of other people with similar issues that have put 50k miles with the whine and no problems so im not that worried. just wondering if anyone else knows what it is or anything. maybe making a engine grounding kit would help? (one of the suggestions i read said that)

actually that was the second alt.
the first one didnt regulate voltage. this one has proper voltage and its not a bearing noise (thats why i replaced the old one)
i've had it on for about a month or so and havnt had any problems whatsoever (i always keep an eye on voltage)

Well whining is def not normal, like i said, they normally begin to whine when a diode is going out. Is the belt tension correct?

Does the whine change with rpm?

Jigga, something is wrong with your alt and it should be swapped out. But yet you seem to defend that nothing is wrong with it. As you know, rebuilt alternators are always a crap shoot, 1 out of 3 are decent. Swap that puppy out or keep getting asked "Is that thing supercharged?".

In on topic news, finally pulling the FS from the bay today.
