What have you done to your P5 today?

brother swapped 3rd brake lights, he had an LED out in the OE assembly

So he just swapped stock for stock? Or is the new one custom or just an aftermarket replacement?

He had said something on facebook about getting a tinted one way cheaper than new from Mazda.I wanna say he bought it from someone who modded it

I've been contemplating swapping my 3rd brake light out for LED, but that consisted of swapping ALL of the bulbs out for LED, not the entire assembly. Any idea on the price for swapping out the entire assembly?

Yes more info about that!

While I was researching how to replace the spoiler light on my P5, this thread came up pretty often, so I figured I should add my findings & results here.

I found a "smoked" replacement here: http://www.spoilerlights.com/servlet/the-292/17.5%22-Smoked-Mazda-Spoiler/Detail

This is what came in the mail:

Not terribly "smokey" but it had to look better than what it was replacing:

There are a couple of good how-to's on removing the spoiler already in the forums, so I won't go into that. Removing the light itself is very simple, just remove the four screws holding it to the spoiler and it pops right out.

I connected the new wires to the old wiring harness and hit the brakes to make sure the new light was working:

Hey, not bad.

While putting everything back together I notice that the screws on each end of the light were exceptionally snug and I had a hard time lining them up with the holes in the spoiler and figured something was a bit off. Sure enough, each end of the light protruded about 1/16" from the spoiler:

No problem. I took the light back out and drilled some wiggle room into the end tabs:

Don't know if you'd have to do this on every install but this isn't a Mazda factory part, so be prepared to adjust things as needed.

Perfect!

Nice. I think I'll keep it.

The new light has been in for a little over month now and is holding up great. Well worth two hours of work and $60 I'd say.

Thanks for the link, JT. Simon's brother for posting. And the old school member for the How-to. (2thumbs)

i really need to get under the car. this dang clunk noise seems to get louder like the whole front end is going to break appart

ALSO

the car has not been getting good gas mileage lately. cant even get 320 or so to a full gallon even being easy on the gas. new plugs, wires, coils, oil etc. idk whats wrong? egr dirty? i have sea foamed the car twice too. idk what else to think? :?

any suggestions? thanks

Could be an old/failing upstream O2 sensor. I changed mine last summer an noticed that I got better gas mileage over the winter months.

ordered white plastidip paint.
the clearcoat and paint on the p5 has gotten super terrible and its beyond repair, so i pulled the plug and im gonna paint the car matte white and gloss it afterwards!
hopefully it'll look good for what it is.
seen lots of white dipped cars at events and i am pretty impressed.
