What have you done to your P5 today?

Magnum - Didn't you just put ur Sparcos in recently too? I saw in your FS thread an option is to take them out, but why don't you just swap them into your upcoming rx-7?

Yep, I did just put them in about 3 weeks ago. I've made the decision to keep them unless a buyer absolutely wants them (in which case the price will go up!). Looks like the brand new Enkei's will be going with the car though :(

Fair enough... Brand new sparcos tho, damn! Can't give all your goodies away! lol Do you not have your stock rims to put back on? Or the Enkei's aren't the right size you would want for the rx-7 anyway?

Not brand new, but pretty close - the guy I bought them off only put like 1000 miles on them. I still have my old '03 MSP Racing Harts (the ones with the crack in one) and I'll probably put them on the P5 before finally selling but I don't think I will be able to get the RPF1's on the RX-7 without some work (e.g. spacers, hub centric rings, etc.). I will try though and if they don't work I'll try to sell them here for some extra money.

Today I'm probably going to start pulling parts off the P5 of which I know I still have the stock replacements. CS radiator, MSP door sills, Magnecor spark plug wires, powder coated valve cover and I'm sure there's more. See my F/S thread for more info.

K, I haven't looked at it since you first posted it. Maybe I'll might have to swing by your neck of the woods and take some stuff off your hands :D lol @ being broke and still finding cash to buy stuff for the protege...

A sort of teaser shot of most of the turbo build stuff chillin. Less than two weeks to go...

Ahhhh yes......I remember those days. I used to admire my pile of turbo goodies everyday and couldn't wait until install time.

I'm glad I had a spare car because my build took 2 weeks.....not 2 days.

Yea I got about 10 days set aside for it but I have someone helping me who's got plenty of experience so it shouldn't be as bad.

Nice...so anyone have any feedback on the open mouth ebay grills...anyone have one or recomend a certain seller...I may get me one...how do they mount...

Thanks...

From what I hear, you get what you pay for there. If you look closely at the Ebay Grill pics, even their model grill doesn't seem to fit very well. I would think that's pretty indicative of quality.

As for the P5, I just spent the last 30 minutes cleaning the positive battery terminals...SO MUCH corrosion. Ugh.

My girlfriend drove my P5 last night with me in the passenger seat. Yikes...

We went about 7 miles and stopped at Wendy's for supper on the way home. She stalled it 3 times and almost ran into the garage door pulling into the driveway. Haha. It'll be a while till I have the courage to let her drive the P5 again...

I feel you man. My girlfiend/fiance' hasn't driven my car since before it was turbocharged - at least 2.5 years. That jus goes to show how bad the experience was. I didn't even have a heavier clutch and lightweight flywheel either!

^pics? mine is horrible too. what did u use to clean it?

I've used Coke on my first car... dunno if was a good idea but if I recall correctly, it worked pretty good...

Can anyone back up me old and faulty memory?

yes you are correct. the phosphoric acid helps break down the battery corrosion. baking soda, lil water and an old toof brush works wonders too.

I made a paste of baking powder (Arm and Hammer) and water in a plastic cup and then gooped it on the terminal with a brush. After a few rounds of that (and a lot of wiping in between) I pulled the cable off the battery and submerged the end in the rest of the baking powder paste. I let it simmer a bubble for a while and then pulled it out and cleaned it with a brush. It's no fun, that's for sure, but I was starting to have a stumble when I pulled a heavy electronic load.

I would advise to make sure you hose all the crud that cleaning produces off the engine bay, and I believe it can damage paint, so I would take special care to avoid getting any on the body. It seems to me baking powder and water would be less sticky than coke...
