What have you done to your P5 today?

I have the corksport hangers and they actually brought my RB catback up too high. It was hitting the bottom of the car right where it goes over the "axle," so I had an exhaust shop heat up and bend the hangers.

with the OBX exhaust, the header caused the tip of the magnaflow to rattle on the bumper

with the Ractive, it fit perfect

Newbie here. Hello everyone. I've had my Mazda Protege5 for 7 years now, 140,000 miles, and I love it. Everything started breaking down this year! I had a mechanic replacing everything and then got tired of paying him all my money after watching how easy some of the stuff was to do and ordering my own parts online.

Anyway after two mechanics fixed and replaced various and selected parts on my Mazda and the engine light stayed on, I decided to take her to Autozone and have them put her on "the machine thingy". I looked up the codes and ordered two Oxygen Sensors (front and rear) and replaced them last night.

All my neighbors looked at me like I was a nut when they passed by because I'm a very girly looking female. The sight of me changing them must have been hilarious because up until last night I didn't even know how to use a jack! LOL I ended up going to a 24 hour auto parts store after realizing I needed a O2 socket to get the one up under the car off. I spent most of my time, figuring out how to use my neighbor's floor jack, praying the car wouldn't fall on my big head, scratching up my knuckles and losing my flash light - I started too late in the day.

Even though it took me a long time to do because I didn't know jack crap, I loved every minute of it and the satisfaction I got after driving it on the highway and not seeing the engine light come back on (even if it was only temporary lol) was great - especially two mechanics and a whole hell of a lotta money later.

The power steering pump is my next adventure. I downloaded a manual from a link on one of the forums here to help me out. Stay tuned.......

Welcome! Yay, another high mileage P5. Glad to hear you've stuck thru all their nice little issues. Have you had the rear calipers go bad on you yet? That's always a delight...

just waiting for the first person to ask for pictures..... who's gonna leghump today???

good job lois.

Alright fine. I will.

Pics?

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it. I found some jack stands in the tool shed. I will definitely use them next time.

Good call. Mine fell off a jackstand, almost on me, while changing the wheel bearing. Car fell right on its belly. Even with stands, be careful!

I finally got my spare engine back today, yay! Now I can re-start the teardown. Hopefully new rods and pistons with the tax returns.

Nice! I want to do something like that...but I can't really bring myself to do it with the Mazda.

Being turbo, I can see why you'd want to do it. And your P5 is nice as hell. Mine...well... she's seen too many Ohio winters. Same money, I can have a 300 hp other car.

got some new badges to go on the car..........................

I made an appointment for a full detail next weekend. Wash, claybar, wax, polish, etc. I'm paying out the ass but the P5 needs a good detail badly. I'll have everything nice and shiny for the big mid-west Mazda meet and I'll be sure to take some pictures as well. Now if only I could keep the oil off the back as I drive out there...

Just got back from PA. 420 miles in a day FTW! Got my new one of a kind spare bumper and got to meet up with some fellow mazda people from the forums.

Now if I could just get this damn midpipe sold, I'd be a very happy man :D

well I have it set at 145 shipped to the continental US but I dunno how much it would cost to ship it to Canada. Can you give me an address or zip?

So whatcha going to do with the new bumper cover? I saw that on Ebay and was curious...

I dunno really. I think I'm just gonna keep it in the basement for now until I can figure that out. Classes start again next week so I won't have much time to do anything really. I am really interested to see how it would look painted and on the car...

How's the condition of it, like is it cracked and all? I was really tempted to get it and experiment but I didn't want to pick something up that was trashed.

It actually looks great. It's still in the trunk right now but I'm gonna take it out and wash it tomorrow since it is REALLY dusty. I'll look it over carefully and take some pics. Oh and did i mention it cost me 5 dollars? haha
