What have you done to your MSP today?

Summitracing.com or Jegs.com

Ebay
Nothing wrong with the parts I got, but the awful red fitting with silver hose with blue fitting hurt my eyes.

You'll pay a little bit more money, but all of their products so far have been worth it. Mishimoto

I've used pitstopusa.com and goodvibesracing.com (best prices) and vibrant parts thru CR3.

I got an ebay setup for my docB but taking the hoses apart and refitting them was such a pita. Also the MazdaSpeed oil spot was almost too long to tighten down everything. Btw Love the DocB and my Findenza

If your tranny is out, YES.....If you plan on buying just to put in, NO

You mean, for instance, if you were about to remove your transmission to install an ACT Xtreme clutch, it'd probably be worth it, right? ;)

If anyone wants to sell an.mfactory trans I'm shopping. Prob gonna be cheaper to buy a full drop in used one than a new dif and all parts needed to refresh trans.
Shipping to blaine washington so domestic.and cheap.
There is one I'm trying to get in the classied buy having to ship my own trans back might make it impractical. I might as well jusy pay more and have a spare or two.

I was going to tell you about that one, but it's in the states and you're in Candyland...

I might get it. Its not like he has to ship it special, just to blaine. But even so ill have to pay a bunch of shipping to get that one here and.mine there heh.
I could prob spend $1000 on a none beat to crap trans with an mfactory. If I baught new I'd be getting new bearings ect and I don't own a press. ....

meh.. not gonna get it.

guess ill be buying a new mfactory, dif install kit, trans bearings ect from sam. wondering if i should just get a turbo install kit too.. though i don't REALLY need the oil line although its nicer..

if its just the diff bearing you don't really need a press. I've changed them on a bench. just not the funnest. now for the main and counter shafts you will need a press.

I was thinking of doing those bearings myself, but i think id have to feel around the shafts for all the tollerance, write it down and press it all back on the same? I had mazda press on the input shaft bearing and flywheel bearing. i asked a cheaper shop to do the exedy one and they fked it up lol. i guess a press isnt TERRIBLY expensive.. i might even be able to find one used.

not relaly looking forward to taking the trans out and tearing it apart agian.. but i guess its better this way, as ill be assured of all new parts working properly. my only worry is that a bad pilot bearing is what took out my input shaft bearing... could it have caused a tweak in the case or cause the shafts to tweak at all? trans seemed to work great after the clutch swap.. and thats a nother problem.. if the release bearing went out so soon, is that a bad clutch pedal adjustment, or just bad luck with the bearing itself? the manual didnt relaly specify anything to do with the master cylinder adjustment after putting in a new clutch, but i had to have the nut pretty far in to take out the play. should it be in further so the bearing is always riding on the pressure plate spring? or should the bearing be able to clear it?

i might go check it out tonight if maybe the release fork is flopping around but i only get the noise when the clutch is engaged and gearset is rotating. sounds like heatshield rattle.

Anyone ever think of using this stuff? I'm usually not a big fan of carbon fiber, especially fake stuff, but this might make some good accent pieces inside.I like it better than the fake stuff we already have...

Or even this for the tails...

Or this to cover up our nasty wheels...

that steering wheel stuff would actually be pretty good for my worn girlie. wonder if you can get it with yellow thread instead.

gonna test out the thrust bearing in the trans and possibly replace it. should i get a genuine mazda thrust bearing or get one of the kit ones that comes with exedy or spec clutches? the clutch does still work perfectly, just rattles really bad when the pressure is off it. if you press the pedal ina little it almost goes away, but im worried that rides the clutch. still not sure if there is a science to adjusting the pedal rod. i have a corksport clutch line and i just keep seeming to ahve to turn the rod in more, in more in more and now its at the end of the rod thread.

I haven't had a problem with my clutch bearings. I just have mine adjusted to where it feels good. It may be bad bearings. As far as the transmission bearings go there not bad to make sure there not hard to make sure there still in spec when you replace them. Probably won't even notice a difference if you do replace them. There's a page somewhere that tells all the specs and the proper way by mazda to check all you shafts and gears. I'm just on my phone and don't want to fight it to find that page.

i replaced the one input shaft bearing that broke on the 5th gear side.. due to the bad pilot bearing im kind of surprised it wasnt the bell side that went.. but i honestly didnt think to change BOTH.. he even ordered the wrong one first lol.. silly me.
i dont imagine the counter shaft bearings need attention at all. i think what happened is the one bearing blew right as i was trying to reverse, it pinned the gears stalling the car, which thank gawd wasnt moving, then the magnet caught it up when the tension was released. the ticking i heard was the bearing rollers clipping the broken race edges.

that went away when i changed the bad bearing. the clutch started to make this bad grindy/racket some months after install. car felt and sounded fantastic for a few months.

So a lot of thinks have happened the last couple of days. Finally settled with insurance for the mp3. Got $3600 and my car back so that's getting parted out and the msp gonna get some parts she's missing. Also went to a car auction. Didn't think of get a car as most of the crap cars in my opinion were going for mad prices. Saw a 96 fav4 with 265k on if go for 4k :s . Then I saw a mazda 3 with a broken window and ended up getting it for 1000 after auction fees. Not sure what else it needs but atleast it will pass emissions no problem.

Good news for the msp as now that I have a new daily I can take my time on the msp and fix it how I want so that it will last

It took a couple hours but I was able to drop the 25k mile motor in MSP 1574 yesterday and install a few things like the washer bottle and new starter. Passenger axle, turbo, IM, radiator, alternator and front bumper still need to be installed and I have to re-do the intercooler piping bc it has very poor fitment the way the PO ran the ebay piping kit. And I still need to buy a new passenger motor mount and rear swaybar bushing bracket (Unless someone on here has one???) to get it ready to DD.

Hornsfan are we not able to drop the engine in with the intake manifold already bolted in?
