Terbow: Where can I get a set of Brush Aluminium Rings at.. I've been trying to find some!!!!
Yea...I did make them myself. I used this how to to make mine.
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60046 Basically it fairly simple. Its just the matter of taking your time to sand it down really good and dont rush into paint really quick. On mine I spent about 3 weeks or so working on after work for about 1 to 2 hours a day. Also the first time I painted it, I used the wrong paint and was way to shiney so I had to sand again and paint it again this time using flat black paint. What I used to bond the two together was some stuff at the your local auto parts store...(Autozone) called plastic expoy by quicksteel. It comes in a tube and it looks and acts just like playdo. "stinky stuff" Use that to mold and bond the two piece together. Then sand it down. The stuff gets hard like a rock in like 3 to 4 minutes so use small portions at a time. Sand, clean, sand , clean, repair, sand clean, and then after you gotten as far as you can...us a then layer of bondo to fill in the bumps and dips that you couldnt sand out. This is where you want to take your time. Then prime it, and paint it. Again take your time in painting. Do several light coats to cover the entire piece instead of trying to cover it in one coat first. This will help with the consistance in the paint and prevent some runs..also remember to stand 8 inches at least away from the item that you are painting. Thats pretty much it. I'll post some pick of the different stage of the build later today.... Hope this helps in how this was done.
