What have you done to your MSP today?

Alright I have a new cable and the drivers are installed and it still won't connect to the AFC with the key on and engine off. Will the computer not connect if it is running Vista?

no it won't. you need XP.

i've seen many guys try vista with no success! be careful!

Nevermind I just got it connected.
I can't figure out how to load a map on it, The map A has all zeros in every box, should I repalce them ALL with 10s?

Well, the tuners express job is to manipulate the MAF signal being shown to the ECU, so if I were you, I would flash a tune of strait "10"s into the tuner. This should then effectively be doing nothing... and if you still have a problem, then you'll at least be able to narrow it down. Until you get there, you're going to chase your tail. If that clears your issue, then you can move on to the superstock map, and then start working out your AFRs from there.
So on the fuel map A I need to change every 0 value to 10? For the whole grid?

Alright well I set every value to 10 and the car is running without fuel cut, it's a little rich in the 9s AFR wise but i'm extremely happy to have it running like it should.
I really appreciate everyone's help

Right on!

Now that you know how the software is setup you can do a little tuning to lean it out where you need to. That's the beauty of the SSAFC, very user tuneable.

You are now running a stock tune again. Congrats. The ECU was protecting the engine before, because it was being BADLY under fueled. Had it not done so, the safe money would be on your connecting rods exiting the block.

This. Enjoy!

Thanks I really appreciate it everyone. I'm still not clear on how to make a map. It's running a little lean in boost unless I go wot when it
Hits 9.0-10.3 or so. Still feels smoother than before. Can't wait to get a tuned correctly. Need to connect to the WB to datalog next.

"10" is stock fuel level. 9.9 is just slightly less, and obviously you tune it by rpm vs. boost. Without a datalog it'll be tougher, but basically figure out what boost levels and RPMs you know you're rich or lean, and start adjusting those a little, and then smooth out the values in between what you do know. Then go out and see how the AFRs are... rinse, repeat until you're happy (likely... forever, lol)

Yeah it's running on vista. I will try to make a map, probably basing off of someone else's map at first. Although all the maps I download off of that thread don't load right on my computer they are blank when I open them in excel

Yeah dude the MSP is sucky in the snow. I have never had any problems getting where I needed to go, but I have drove FWD cars that go alot better in the snow.....

My winter setup consists of the stock racing harts and some Hankook i-Pike's (meaty snow tires). It can still be sketchy if there is a significant amount of snow on the ground (~3 inches +) but IMO if there is anybody on the road in a civic or whatnot, there is no reason why I can't make it to my destination.

You dont open them in excel, what you do is download a map from the thread, like the superstock map, and save it to your desktop for example.
Then close everything out, open the R4 software, once that comes up, hit file->open customer. Then using the box that pops up, select the file you just downloaded on the desktop. It should then have opened the superstock map, once you have that up, click on maps->fuel maps. A fuel grid should pop up and in the upper left of the fuel map, there are 2 buttons you can click. The first one on the left is to download the map from the car, the one directly next to that is to upload a map into the car. Connect to the ECU, car on engine off, and then hit the upload map to car. It'll do its map A loading, then Map B loading. Once its done, REMOVE YOUR KEY FROM THE IGNITION, and let the car sit for 30 seconds before you start it, if you dont, your car will throw a CEL.

Hope that helps

Glad you got it to work. what "justanothermp5" mentioned about is pretty accurate.

Hopefully now we can be friends.

Thanks so much that really helps a ton. I can now load the supermap, Connect the WB and datalog then make a custom map.

I never didn't want to be friends, lol. I was just frustrated the car didn't run right. It's my own stupid fault for not waiting to install it correctly I just didn't have time to set it up properly on my computer but now it's good and hopefully I can tune it to run much better.
