What have you done to your MSP today?

I was stuck in rush hr traffic. So the traffic started speed up and All the sudden came to a stop. I guess she wasnt looking and hit me straight up. I dont think she braked at all. I didnt hear no tires just looked in my rear view mirror and saw her coming fast(probably around 30mph). And that was it. My sis and I are okay. Just her neck and my back are sore.

-My advice to you is this:
-Have you and your sis see a doctor asap
-Tell them you were in a car accident
-Obtain the counsel of an attorney so that you are not screwed by her insurance (I am worried about the fact you dont have your spoiler on the car anymore; did you ever install a third brake light to replace the one that was on the spoiler? If not her insurance company may bring that up to help shift some liability from her to you making this an accident that is no longer completely faultless on your part and thereby threating your recovery in terms of medical damages and property damage)
-Do whatever the doctor tells you and go to as many appointments as is required (you can get a certain percentage of lost pay from your job from her insurance)
-Get whatever you can out of this by doing everything you are supposed to because if you dont do it now, you lose the possibility of doing it later
-Even if you feel okay you should still see a doctor because once you agree to settlement you can not later seek medical damages that could arise a year from now, a doctor can forsee such possible complications
-yes an attorney costs money but it is a pittance compared to how much you are screwed out of by the insurance company of the other driver if you try to handle this on your own
-you and your sister can use the same attorney
-If you have any further general questions send me a pm, ill be happy to help you with whatever I can as far as information goes.

i still dont understand the buying it back thing. you can have it towed to your house.

When a vehicle is totaled it is signed over to a wrecking company, until it is totaled or deemed fixable by the adjuster you cannot touch or remove anything from the vehicle. If it is totaled once it is signed over it becomes property of the wrecker and you have to buy it back from them

yea, but don't you have to call an adjuster out? afaik here you just have to report an accident where more than $1500 damage is done to insurance, but you can have the vehicle towed anywhere you want, and its your choice to involve insurance. then again, i've never been hit, and vehicle insurance is mandatory here.
i hope it doesnt happen, cause somone would die...

i did read the california laws on this before i took the spoiler off my old MSP. from what i understand it's not illegal to only have the two brake lights on either corner of the car. however, it is illegal to have a non-functioning third brake light(or any non-functioning brake light for that matter). as long as the two brake lights he had were functioning, i think he'll be ok on this front.

We actually have the same insurance company(AAA) so i dont think there will be much of an issue. We're going to go and see a doctor sometime this week(probably wed) and get checked out. I wasnt aware of the third brake light being an issue. I know for sure both of the rear lights worked. So we'll see if that will be brought up. Hope it doesnt go as far as me hiring an attorney but i guess u never know. Just gonna wait for the tow truck to come and pick up my car so we can take it to the autobody shop tomorrow. Then call Hertz and get my bad rental.

^person above said the law in cali says you can remove it so you should be fine

in 2007, i think i bought my mp3 back for 700-900 when it got total'd. sorry to hear that man. my gf's bro was at a dead stop and a lady hit him from the back without any braking at 45mph. so its a similar situation as urs. glad yalls okay

yea and def go to the doctors to get checked out, u and ur sis

Thx guys. I also just got projector headlights in the mail today. lol. Guess they wont be going on anytime soon.

Man...that stinks big time. Glad you got the lights OK though. Hope everything goes smoothly with the insurance et al.

deffinatly buy it back, those wheels are worth a nice penny.

it looks to me to only be trunk, rear bumper, and tail lights. and really those are a snap to replace. im sure theres people around here willing to help a rebuild.

you forgot the frame... thats the potential problem. gettin hit that hard tends to bend a LOT of steel.

This... luckily, most of the damage seems to be high on the car. That said, when I had my accident in my ex's G35 coupe, the damage seemed minimal, but it STILL kinked the front frame rails...

true i overlooked that, i just seen that the trunk has obviously taken the brunt of the force, so hopefully the hit was high enough to dissapate before the frame

trunks aren't structural enough to dissipate the energy.. it'll just fold up and get outa the way until something else that is structural can take the hit. you could probably (not that I'd recommend it) JUMP on a trunk lid and do a fairly good job of flattening it.
