I hate to dissapoint everyone, but the turn signal silvering was a failure :/

The bulbs looked badass, then the paint melted and bubbled a bit today after extended use:

I don't get it. I gave them a night to dry and used engine paint tested to 500 degrees fahrenheit.

So now I have a really simple howto:

1. Go to Amazon.com and search for "1157 silver amber platinum".
2. Buy the first set of bulbs that come up for that search.
3. Wait for shipping.
4. Install the bulbs.

If anyone is curious about how to install the bulbs, I can at least explain that. The front turn signals are the only bulb in the manual that read: "Due to the complexity and difficulty of the procedure, the bulbs should be replaced by an Authorized Mazda Dealer." Yea right! If I can do it, anyone can.

As far as the rears, it doesn't matter if they bubble a bit because you can't see it. The rears were extremely simple to paint and reinstall and they look amazing! No more egg yolk-looking rear turn signals:

I didn't even check but we did this with a friend of mine's Civic (same exact turn signal and paint) and it worked out perfectly.

Try silver header, caliper or engine enamel, header paint being the best choice. Regular paint can't take that kind of concentrated heat. Or just buy the chromed bulbs and be done w/it.

I'm way ahead of you on the chromed bulbs for the front. The back seems fine because you can't really see the bulb anyway and it glows amber just fine.

Does it get hotter than 500 degrees F in the front light assembly?

I've ran 5 different BOVs on my MSP as well. Sometimes you just have to search out for your favorite.

I installed my silver turn signal bulbs to avoid that disaster that was painting the amber ones.

The LED interior light replacement kit should arrive this evening.

With for sure!! Esthetically speaking, the HB looks funky w/o the wing. At least the ones on the MS's have a design that might add to it's aerodynamics and help keep the rear glass clean.
Why when you have a white car would you paint the roof black??
