What have you done to your MP3 today???

i would sand it by hand with some 400 so you dont see all those marks from the dremel
and a couple nights to cure in some warm place is fine, just make sure you do light coats and leave 10 mins in between coats, if u do heavy coats or dont let the paint flash long enough etc.. it'll take longer to dry

Word, thx for the tips. And ya, I was gonna go over them with 320 b4 I paint. That will be good right? I have some 600 wet/dry too, but I didn't think that was necessary... I have 1000 & 2000 wet for sanding the primer, paint & clear between coats. ;)

320 should be fine, just said 400 cuz its what i use the most lol
you shouldnt need to sand the paint between coats (if its metallic i wouldnt)
do 3 coats of primer, let dry for an hour, then sand with that 600 you have to make it super slick, then u can do however many coats of paint and clear you want
once its all on there, let that dry, then if you want, u could sand with the 1000 and re clear to help bring out the gloss some more

just make sure you wait long enough before sanding, if u try to sand the s*** to early it will gum up the sand paper really quick

edit: btw these are little tips i found out by painting my stockers 3-4 times, u dont have to follow them lol

Oh ok. I was ganna say if its black just put the tires on and paint the rims so when you have over spray it would just hide with the black of the tire and look like tire shine haha.

Pulled mine out of the garage for the first time since Oct and took it for a drive. It would've been in longer but I need a car to drive while I wait for my drive shaft to come in for my cherokee.

Here is what I suggest for painting:

- Wash the wheels
- Sand the wheels with 320 grit sandpaper
- Wash the wheels again, let dry
- Wipe down wheel thoroughly with tack cloth (this is crucial, probably the most important piece of equipment)
- Apply first coat of desired paint, wait 20 minutes before next coat
- When first coat is dry, wipe off painted areas with tack cloth (you'll notice how much dust comes off)
- Apply second coat, wait 20 minutes again
- Tack cloth wheel after coat is dry
- Repeat steps until desired number of coats achieved

I did my wheels this way and they turned out great. Prep and process between each coat of paint is crucial to them turning out good and lasting a long time. I did 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear with proper tack cloth cleaning between each coat.

The tack cloth is a sticky cloth material that grabs any dust or particles that are on the wheel.

where can i find this tack cloth i keep coming across lately lol. seems like a step i should add when i paint stuff

Definitely recommend it for anything you paint. You can find them at Home Depot or in the paint section of Autozone.

Spending more $$$ today. Picking up a few items from DJDUB & his Miata fund part-out. O and wheels didn't get painted this weekend, cause my Sunday got wasted... Going to try and get them painted this week and then mount them on the car this weekend. Going to stop by a forum member's place in N. KY to get some things when I get off work, also. Seems like everyone is parting out lately, lol.

^^what are these items your picking up...lol

I only got a few small parts left for my build and this bad boy is going to be turbo charged!

Getting GT Spec front strut bar & oil pressure gauge setup from DUB, and Weathertech window visors from sean22306. He's local & I MAY get a narrowband from him as well... Yes, I know they are basically pointless, haha. I'm just gonna have an extra hole in the 3 gauge dash mount & that would just look awkward, haha. And I don't need a wideband w/out boost.

*Edit, I think I have to take a break from spending $$... i could have gone f/i this spring, in retrospect... Well, I guess next spring may call for Boooooost. ;)

^^ Nice handful of parts! I just can't freaking wait to put my turbo on car. I'm going to be so connected to this car when I'm done with it lol

I'v got a nerrow band just covering a hole for my boost
gauge right now lol

Haha it has to be done, its like a drug I keep buying stuff for the car when I really don't need it. Yeah I have found my self spending a lot of time on my car lately than the girls lol. I'm looking at Oil coolers right now

Then that is a GF not worth keeping. She should be supporting your hobbies imo. I had a girl like that bitching about the stuff I like to do. **** it isn't it YOUR money, what does she care what you spend it on. :)
