What have you done to your Miata today?

With the valve cover off, I wanted to get your opinions on how "clean" my head is.

Um.. from as far away as those pictures are, it looks fine. I don't think I've ever heard anyone complaining their head was "dirty" unless they just didn't ever change the oil or had something horribly horribly wrong. If there's no metal shavings and the oil looks good, I wouldn't worry about it.
