What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Put on my roof rails and crossbars today. Had them painted matte black. The other pictures are of my plasti-dip job (last week), oem rain guards (2 weeks ago), and spacers (3 weeks ago). I know I'm behind, but better now than never :)

Next week... A car wash!

That paint is sick! What wax / sealant / coating did you use to get it looking so wet please? I've been very happy with my waxing regimen, but I've never managed to get the Soul Red looking quite that wet.

I don't know if this is the key but after hand washing it, I clay barred it with this

Nothing too fancy. I'll confess that part of the shine on the car had to do with lighting when I took the photo :)

It's stock. I just plasti-dipped the emblem and the chrome trim below the grill. Thinking of changing the emblem to red when i have time.

The emblem is plasti-dipped? How? I mean this version has the clear smoked cover over the Mazda logo. The cover is transparent. It's not like the rear where you can spray it and paint over the emblem and peel it off the paint.

Curious how you did the chrome trim. I was considering it, but having my doubts because the chrome trim goes into the headlights as well (i know not connected, but the flow). Did you remove it? put cardboard behind the grill? Just doesnt seem as easy as the other stuff I have plasti-dipped on the car so far (rear emblem, roof rails, door scuff plates).

My 2016 didn't come with the clear smoke cover over the Mazda logo so it was pretty much like doing the back. As for the chrome trim, you're right, it wasn't has easy as the rear. I kept it on the grill and used blue painters tape to tape off the paint on the bottom and the grill on the top. The key is to tape into the crevices so that the plasti-dip will only stick onto the chrome. After it dries, you can just peal of the tape and it's all done. Sorry, I should have taken pictures.

Weird. Mines a 2016 GT as well. Here's pix of my front emblem

Now you can see my confusion about plasti-dipping it. I'm curious how easy I can find one without a cover over it so I can plasti-dip it and match my rears.

Your car has the iActivsense package with Distance Recognition Support, hence the covered symbol to protect the hardware behind it. vkkhang's car doesn't have it.

Ah OK. Did not know that. I thought all that stuff was on the windshield above the rear view mirror since theres like 4 different things there. Man thats a bit disappointing. Wouldn't want to disturb that feature, but would love to have a black emblem.

Had to get a flat repair done this morning. Small nail or staple remnant in the left rear, probably a result of whatever we ran over last Saturday. Took all week for it to leak enough to set TPMS off.

In preperation for a "monster storm" tomorrow and another forecasted for the end of the week, I replaced the wiper blades. Probably a bit pre-mature, but cheap enough I like to do it each year. The rear is a bit of a pain in the butt, though. 10-15 minutes and done.

Is that the factory bumper strip dipped black?

Yes it is. The job took about 1.5 hours but that's because I did it in conjunction with the emblem and had to redo the emblem twice (it wasn't peeling off properly along the edges).

It's been a while since I've showed some love to my cx-5. Dipped a lot when I bought it, and have been wanting to replace the non-bose speakers. 2015 Touring, Non-Bose.

Replaced the dash speakers with the Polk db351's everyone on here loves to recommend. Surprisingly enough, the stock 3.5" speakers were dead? Couldnt hear anything coming from them when i got up close. Cant believe I hadn't even noticed before now. Gotta say, I hate that Mazda wraps all their wires in sticky cloth tape. The wire harness to the stock speaker has to be cut and spliced into new wires for the new speakers. Naturally, they use as little cable as possible, so when stripping the old wires of their sticky tape and insulation, you are left with very little wire to work with. My advice... be careful when stripping them. Twice I accidentally cut the wire instead, and had to strip even farther down. More advice... buy an offset screwdriver.

Then I replaced the front door speakers with the Infinity Reference 6502. Back doors to be done in a week or two. With the front doors, used a dynamat kit to cover the speaker holes, and insulate where the mounting bracket touches the frame. Also bought foam baffles to set the speakers inside. You WILL need extra speaker cable to hook up any new speakers. The stock wiring is short, and only made to reach the stock setup. After cutting the connector, you will not have enough cable to put on butt connectors or solder. You will need to splice in new wire to make the distance.

All in all, I'm surprised. I lost a LOT of the low range, punchy bass the stock speakers had. The mid and high's are GREAT now... but the lows are non-existent. Perhaps its my inexperience. I thought the speakers would be better all around. Now im looking into powered subs to even out the sound.

Cool, thanks. I might have to give that a try.

How does the Plastidip hold up to wear and tear on the bumper like that?

So far so good: no rips or tears yet. I did about 8 layers of spray for the front (may have been excessive but I had enough plasti-dip so why not :))

After I have replaced my speakers with Infinity Primus components(front and back), I had a very good low range. I was actually thinking about skipping a subwoofer, but I have purchased them already, so I went with it and I don't regret it at all.

A whole day of detailing today;

Followed by replacing the nasty plastic looking handbrake and gearlever gaiters with custom-fit leather replacements, and also fitted a leather cover for the console storage box lid;
