What happens to Variable Intake Length when you put in a CAI?

I read all those CAI threads... but none mention about the stock Variable Length Intake.

So, when you install a CAI, don't you have to remove the stock intake which contains the Variable Length Intake feature?

Plus, isn't the stock intake ALREADY getting cold air from the front grille?

The variable length intake runners are after the throttle body. They are not affected.

The stock intake doesn't take air from the front grill area, it takes it from just behind the left headlight. It's cooler there but not as cool as down lower behind the bumper. Also, the CAI has a less restrictive air flow path.
