COBB discontinued it a few months back due to the economy.

We are working on creating our own replacement shifter weight.

You can cut the stock weight, but if you've ever seen it before, the weight bias is towards the front (see pic below), leading me to believe for whatever reason, Mazda wanted more effort to get into the gears into the bottom of the gate (2, 4, 6). The weight in the COBB is evenly distributed.

You can make your own with a couple of nuts and bolts and a bag of fender washers. Then you can tune it to be the weight you like.

bought my cobb shifter weight from rallysportdirect dot com. they had some left as of last month - $25 plus shipping ($32 total). these guys are ironically next to cobb in salt lake city.

Any pics of this? Has anyone cut their stocker? pics? I was going to cut up my stocker but I think I'll try to make one per Rotus.

Yeah, you can probably make one for much less but it would require some time and tinkering on your part to get the best results. The Cobb shifter weight was a good addition to the STS and shifter base bushings. I really didn't think it would make much difference but apparently with this tranny, every little upgrade counts and has made for a much much better shifting tranny than stock.

I cut my stocker (removing about 1/3 from it). Shifting feels lighter without being too light like shifting without the shift weight.

we do have one coming from TRZ. like people have said, its not hard to fab something up. finding the right weight is the key i suppose.
