Did u (mazdaslow) go in & buy your car completely uninformed about what it was designed for? For the last 4 cars i've purchased (95 eclipse gst, 99 civic si, 2001 jetta 1.8t, 2002 wrx), i spent countless hours comparing them against the competition in regards to power, price, looks, handling, aftermarket, & whatever else was important to my specific needs.

If your goal was to drag race a stock car than u need to spend a few more bucks & buy something like a camaro ss. With the msp the true benefit of the car is its handling. The mazdaspeed geeks spent countless hours on the skidpad & slalom trying out countless setup to get unbelieveable performance numbers. 72mph on the slalom is awesome. The USDM integra type r did it at 70mph.
If you want to drag the car do what the honda's(si's, integras, rsx's) do, POUR MONEY INTO HP PARTS & LEARN TO LAUNCH.

horsepower is not everything people. Torque is important also, in ALL types of racing. A guy can have 300 whp, and 100 ft lbs of torque, and guess what, he is gonna lose to a guy with 170 whp and 170 foot lbs of torque.

One's that I've built, ones that are in my crew, and ones that I hang with on a daily basis will tear my MSP to shreads. A few examples are, GSR Civic, Turbo GSR Integ, LS/Vtec Integ, H22 Hatch, LS/Vtec Hatch, Turbo LS Integ, B16 CRX, B16B Hatch, and so on. Personally, I think the MSP was made for overall control factors. Most Honda's are straight line runners. Mine is not. My CRX handles just as well as my CRX does. Just a little insight from an un-bias party...Later,

I THINK THIS GUY JUST DOESNT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE, i mean, i read the first page and im not reading the rest, if you lost to a honda coupe/hatch then thats pretty sad for an msp, so i would think that it would be the DRIVERS FAULT at that point...if you lost to a s2000 then that might explain it, but the rsx shouldve got killed....

I AGREE!!! i got spanked by looked like an all motor gsr integra, i beat crxs with built motors and others, but these cars mentioned would give me a run for my money!!!! hopefully once i start bo0stin in the double digits, they will be no problem...but that damn weight to motor size is killer! hatchs/crxs, turboed any honda will beat if not keep up with us....
