so are you truly telling me if I Swap my Intake for a CAI, exhaust Mani for Headers, stock exhaust for a vibrant, intake mani for the weapon R and valve spring, and pulleys, and a few other things non of that will make a difference right?

10-15 whp tops

no im saying, i would do all of what you listed there before i worry about an intake mani...

another thing to keep in mine here is that a lot of claimed gains by performance parts are crank HP, not wheel... so your "10hp" gain is 8 hp on the ground... and thats even assuming optimal conditions.

but don't forget that factory HP numbers are at the crankshaft and not the wheels. my stock MSP is listed at 170hp from the factory but dynos at around 150hp....

I think i just realized why y'all are all lookin' down on what I'm doing... You all have boosted cars so what I want isnt enuff for you guys there for your saying that its not worth it. I dont wanna make 300hp, i just wanna start out with this, and if i so choose to waste the money and go boosted a year from now, so be it.

yes my car dynoed 235whp when stock, then 258 with the intake and tip, and now 286 with the tune

I need to work on my reaction time and typing skills.....

i have... 136 hp 131tq (only intake) a year later with most of said bolt ons 163hp 166tq (granted i have the 2.3 as opposed to his 2.0)

same dyno place, same info, just a year apart... im not saying that the results are typical or that everyone will see those type of gains but if the kid wants to put some bolt-ons on his car, by all means let him... he will gain power

I did the same mods on my Protege and so a bigger gain than 10-14. I made 29 to the wheels over stock. and that was over 3 years ago. why the hell would i think i couldnt duplicate that in a 3?

this is the only boosted car I've had... last tuner car I drove was 130hp out of the box NA... you know what I did for power mods? a cone filter and an axel back exhaust.

why? because nothing else (short of boosting it) was cost effective.

My car will top out at 220 whp.. and thats IF I go as far as I've considered... likely, I won't.. but our being boosted really has nothing to do with our opinions... it has shown us the comparison of cost/benefit though...

Ok, now I call bulls***. 3s are a bit more reactive to mods than a protege, no way in hell you got 30whp off of an intake, header and vtcs removal.

i say go for it

as you can see ive seen pretty good gains from the bolt-ons ive done to my car... with the mods ive done the car is more fun to drive and in the end if YOU are happy with the performance of YOUR car... well thats all that matters...

I really wanna believe that with stock #'s on an MS3 of 263hp and 272 ft lbs tq that somebody out there has hit the 300hp threshold.

yes, but gains with a DISI over a certian point become more difficult. A boosted 2.3 mazda 3 has more potential currently than an MS3. (this could change if someone truely cracked open the ECU, but we'll see.

I believe dub was referring to itsyellow, me, and himself... the boosted protege folk in attendance here.
