what do you think of this set up

So first off my girl has a MP5 and we were thinking of either swapping a MPS motor which i found for $2650 with 75k miles, or would it be better to put a hiboost turbo kit for $3800? my motor only has like 20k miles on it though.

Second question. This refers to the original question. I found an 02 MP5 for $2900 and wanted to completely do that one up. Heres the list

-either get the protegegarage built motor for 3500
or
- Arias Piston and Pauter Rod Combo, cometic gasket set, arp head stud set, awr motor mount set, integral cams, Ported and Polished Cylinder Head.

- protegegarage tranny upgrade kit with LSD
- injen cold air intake
- speed axles
- hotwires
- custom 3" exhaust with downpipe hi-flow cat (i live in CA)
- stage 2 clutch
- hiboost turbo set up or should i piece it together myself
- not sure on teh suspension yet though, any recomendation would be appreciated.

also what boost should i run it at? i have friends who do all this stuff and i have some experience but they own shops.
 
I'm so sick of answering this question: the MSP motor is the EXACT SAME THING as the motor in the P5 so what a waste of money that would be. As for the HiBoost setup - do a search for HiBoost; you'll see that recently they have been non-existent. Your best off with the built block and a MSP setup - not hard to find if you occasionally browse the F/S section.
 
i found the MPS motor for 1026 with tranny. I think ill just go that route since its cheaper than turbo'ing my car. Also is the compression different in the MSP than the MP5's FSDE motor?

I was hoping to meet cool down to earth ppl who drove mazdas and wouldnt mind helping a noob out. everyone on here seems to be a dick with some b****y comment to make. That's a great price if the turbo and all piping is included with the motor...Don't sweat these guys...They like to get their panties in a bunch every time someone asks a question...Consider the following...

The Hiboost kit includes a EMS, will allow you to go higher into boost, and more HP....but with more HP comes breakage...you'll blow you motor running more than about 8psi, which you can push with the stock turbo...

The stock turbo/motor combination would let you have a spare block, even build it on the side...That way when you blow the rods, you'll have a spare engine all ready to go in....With the stock motor you'll need to get the MSP ECU at the least, and there are a few minor changes to be made to vacuum lines and oil lines....
 
Reason people get upset is because, quite honostly, this question gets asked ALOT! If you were to search before posting, you'd find alot of info. The guys are good guys on here. It's just that this question is one of the hot buttons. Well, this and the eletric turbo's and the green pro5 pickup

Welcome aboard. I would honostly pickup the msp setup for that price. If you wanted, slap it on your motor and build the spare to handle more boost later down the line. But, as stated, more power equals more breakage. You'll wann a beef the clutch and tranny as well as the suspension.

it was said that it is the same motor, then you proceeded to ask if the compression was different, so i helped you in a more direct way, the search function is useful, use it, then you will see how many people run the same setup that ur trying to run and more, i was a noob too and i got a harsh welcome too for not using the search, so it's our way of saying welcome, you'll find alot of helpfull people here......and in a joking manor, please wash the sand out of your vagina, welcome!
 
Keep us posted! Wish I could find a MSP motor with turbo intact around me for that cost. Hmmff...

Ill probably be picking up another MP5 or MSP for myself here pretty soon since we both feel in love with our mazda.
 
My wife and I both have Pro5's. She got her white one last year, and, I liked it so much, I had to get a Laser Blue one but with a stick. Great little cars!!

Did the nose bra come on it when you bought it? My wife's been buggin me for one for her car.

thats crazy, yeah hers is white and the one i might be getting is the laser blue one.

The bra did come on it when we bought it. My brother has a MP5 and just bought a bra for his which i need to install. It involveds some drilling but nothing too major. I was never a fan of bras but it looks good on her car with black wheels. Check ebay my brother got his for like $64 brand new i believe with shipping.

you go it all wrong with the colors. The more "powered by ____" stickers and NOS stickers you put on your car the faster it goes.

ALways remember the bigger the wing the faster the car goes.
