Ok kids, I'm bored and just want to do a random suvey. What do you prefer driving. I manual tranny or auto tranny?

u don't really drive an automatic, it's just go and brake, not that difficult

is this a serious survey ? haha j/k...but seriously...how do you enjoy driving if you're not in control ?

hmmmm....mash and go? or ACTUALLY DRIVE THE CAR?
-sounds like a tough decision for me ! (wrc) (nana)

Well just so i can be different, i own an automatic.
i like manuals but the long trips i have to take become a pain with manual, also city driving in a manual sucks.
And by the way shifting has nothing to do with how well a person can drive. It's the driver and not the car that will win races.
plus in my 6S i can do either manual or auto.

I have to agree that driving a manual through rush hour traffic can get annoying, but after driving my dads auto to work a few times last week and almost falling asleep, im thinking that my 5 speed is prolly what gets me to where i need to be in one peice when im tired.

I can't stand auto's. Boring, less control of the car. Even more so in our winters. I had to drive a 99 accord v6 for a year, auto, Since 92' I think, every car but that one was a stick. I learned on a stick. You don't "drive" an auto, your just along for the ride.

That being said, some vehicles are better as auto's. Big trucks and vans and stuff. HAve you Ever driven an 5 spd mini van? Strange.

I drive a auto with manual mode, although I prefer driving a manual tranny I cant say that the manual mode on the GT mazda 3 aint fun to drive, I tested the M6 auot, it sucked but really sucked. I can honestly say, I am glad I got the Mazda 3 in auto since as soon as I get my Mazda 6 S which will be manual, the Mazda 3 will be driven by my sister and she still cant drive stick.

Someday someone will build a transmission that has a clutch, but the gear shift goes 1-2-3-4-5-R-D, and when you put it in drive then it bypasses the clutch. That's the automatic I'll buy.

It's called a sequential robotic transmision. It exists but you have to always shift, there is a clutch but no pedal for it, the "robot" takes care of it. It's not like an auto in any way.

Yeah, but that's not what I want... I want something that works exactly like the manual I have now UNTIL I shift into drive, at which point I don't have to touch it again until I shift back out of drive.

In the end, A pure manual tranny is the best. Because shifting is an art if you can do fancy driving with your car.
