What do you guys think of SLP's new hood.

It looks pretty cool, but if I'm gonna spend money on a new hood it will be one that is made of CF. To those who are asking if the hood is functional, yes it is. Or it looks like it could be if you are to keep your factory air box and cut a slit in the top of if it. You'd have to use a flat panel filter of course since you're factory air box. You could passibly fit a small conical filter in the factory box too. All in all, I think it's a pretty good alterative to DG's Ram Air Carbon Fiber $1200 hood.

The dealership I got my p5 at had a showroom car with that hood on it. They put the hood, short ram intake,some 17's and a set of springs on the car and bumped the price up to 27 large (canadian). A bit much imo.
Although I'm not a big fan of hood scoops in general, I thought it looked really good in person.

SLP, some questions for you:
1. You state on the site that this hood is for 'off-highway use only'...is there something in our Highway Traffic Act that prohibits this modification specifically (given the fact that you're located in Canada, I'm talking about Canadian Laws here)? How enforceable is this if this is the case (I fail to see how putting this hood on my car makes me a danger to myself and others around me...)?
2 What's the difference between installing this hood or the CF one from DGMotorsports (other than the huuuge price difference) that makes this one 'illegal' for everyday use?
3. I've seen the price quoted in this thread as being $800...is that CDN or US funds? Where on your site is this price (all I can find is $298.71 in your 'Price' section of the Tunerhood site - this is quoted for the 'Lift off Hood' CDN Price list)?
4. Assuming that the price is indeed $800 - what does one get with this?
5. For Canada, you only have one dealer - located in Quebec (I'm assuming that the web site is up to date and that you haven't added any additional dealers...specifically in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario).

1. It depends per state, which I do not know specifically, but there are various requirements for a hood to be street legal. One is having a front latch. On tuner hoods the latch is replaced by hood pins. The hood was designed for racing application. Keeping lightness in mind. Its the user's responsibility to inform himself what the local police will tolerate.
2. I have never seen the DG hood. But CF hoods do react well in collision. Our functional hood is designed with crush initiators so it will crumple in the event of an accident.
3&4Features included are crush initiators; internal water-control baffles; coated internal mounting hardware; fully-formed and coated air intake grills; unique design with an integral fresh-air intake scoop for added horsepower, all trim, drill and bond operations performed on CNC robots; dedicated bonding fixtures; tightly-controlled tolerances ensure an excellent fit to the vehicle for an original looking appearance and ease of installation; molded-in gelcoat finish; dedicated packaging for easy handling, warehousing, and shipping. One available option is for SLP to prep and prime any POWERPRODUCTS hood.

There was a pic once upon a time of a mustang gt hood scoop put on an MP3. It looked a lot better than this one IMO

By the way, SLP, what happens when it rains?
Specifically, I have a SRI - I would (theoretically) assume that some amount of water will manage to make it to the opening and drip into the engine bay...right onto/into my K&N cone on my AEM...
