I love the idea of CF and while the hood looks nice I think it seems to break up the color line of the car too much for me.
How will it handle rock chips and general daily driving abuse?

I love it but if u get it painted along the line that matches the front grill so that the outside of the hood matches the car and the carbor fiber stays visible in the middle of the hood it would flow better and even put you further up the envy scale of most of us. Still, looks tightasatwoyearold.

1) Is it ALL carbon fiber or just a layer on top of the actual hood or how does it go?
2)How much does it weight in comparison to the original hood?
3)Where did you get it? Custom made?

the hood looks like great fitment and quality, but its not really my style. I would love the weight savings, but I think in the end I would end up painting the hood.
One thing that might help make it look more like it belongs is finding a cf piece to tie the hood to the rest of the car, like a cf grill, mirrors, or maybe a custom piece to replace the black plastic bar in the front...

Yeah it looks just short of someone not painting a door on the car to match or having a primer hood. Its the CF that looks really cool but it just doesnt match anything else on the car of anythign around it.
I like the idea of painting the outer border of it to match the car that would make it flow better.

my idea for painting the cf hood is stolen from BrainMP5T... You can check his cardomain page for pics, but he has almost the whole hood painted body color. There is a roughly 2 or 3" strip at the top (near windshield) left unpainted and then a mazdaspeed logo sticker left unpainted at the front of the hood. It looks pretty sweet, very discreet and almost like the cf was meant to be there

Wow! That is the first MS3 that I have seen with a carbon fiber hood. Looks like a quality hood too!
