What do do with CS exhaust?

2003.5 MSP
I was going to sell my 2.4" cork sport exhaust, but ive been having second thoughts, its a nice system w/ nice welds and all mandrell bent, always looked good on the car 2.

Since i just got my new MSP i havnt put it on yet, and i dont really want to. Not because i dont like the sound, (sounds great) but beause of the exhaust buildup. Black s*** like crazy all over the bumper and even in the creases of the spoiler. I know the MIL eliminator makes it run rich, but DAAMM...

So im stuck on what to do, i really want it back on. I could have a high flow cat put in, but from how rich our cars run would it burn up really fast? Also w/ just one high flow would i be better off with the stock o2 or should i use the one w/ the mil?

thx guys.

Just put it on there!

Or you could just give it to me and i will put it to good use!
Matt

the mil eliminator has nothing to do with the richness of the exhaust. Its sole purpose for existence is to tell the ecu if the cat is doing its job or not. It has not effect on the performance of the car. To fix your problem with carbon buildup I'd suggest getting an fcd and leaning the car out a bit. I have the CS exhaust and I actually have no black buildup, is your car flashed, that will also help a little.(and yes I'm aware that all a flash does is advance timing, but by advancing timing you're allowing for more burn time.) at any rate the mil has nothing to do with the buildup. Id suggest flashing and/or fcd to lean out the car a little.

isn't Joe P's FPR(Fuel Pressure Reducer) more applicable than the FCD? i just hit the crack pipe though so correct me if i'm crazy :)

ok, i thought that since the mil was making the enu think it was cold, it would dump more in.

Anyway, so would a high flow cat even help? how much life we talkin with it?

yes flashed, it seems worse now that its summer, it just builds up a black bar on my bumper within 2-4 days, its pretty bad.

i'm going to add a hi flow cat to try to cut some of the sound, smell and black soot.
And by the way, the crack head is right, a FPR will lean it out a bit, not the FCD.

actually both do almost the same job just in different ways. the fpr works by changing the pressure on the fuel rail to allow for less fuel to flow through the injectors. the FCD works by tricking the computer into thinking there is less air coming in then there actually is via a karman count. so YES the fcd will lean out the car...the problem with most fprs is that you have to be careful as to the pressure change. INjectors are set to pulse with a certain pressure, if you change that pressue outside of its operation threshold you will get detonation from improper pulse width. I've had both so i'm fairly experienced with what works and doesnt...

dude get new hangers i have my corksport on with stock hangers and my bumper only rarely gets black, with carbon just under the back lip, it comes right off with a wet towel. Its a good Exhaust system i can't see why you'd wanna get rid of it for the good price you got

hmm must humbly correct my previous statement...after talking with Joe P. He said his fcd is only a fuel cut defenser. In my previous statements I was referring to fcds by apexi and other such companies which act to lower to overall voltage curve. Joe informed me that for our cars this wont work b/c the comp sees the rpms and throws a code when it doesnt "match up". So for the MSP setup it appears that MS is correct, you will have to get the fpr to lean it out....gaaa i miss the good old DSM days...things were so much easier then....
