Bought this from someone on here that said it was for a p5 but went to put it on and there's holes missing for the plastic and the rear doesn't seem to stretch out enough. Thoughts comments solutions

I tried installing it on my p5 but it doesn't look like it is. The front bar lays on the paint the rear is not wide enough and there are no holes for the plastic covers on the car

Not sure what you mean by "there are no holes for the plastic covers." Does your P5 have the built in rails for the rack? Did you pop the caps that cover the connection points?

I just went out to my storage shed and looked...those are definitely the P5 roof rack bars.

i took out the plastic covers, which are about 2" long but the plastic pieces that came with the rack look like they are supposed to clip into something thats not there....i guess ill have to take a longer look. does ur front bar lay on top of the roof so that it would end up scratching the paint? and my rear one does not stretch out far enough ( i guess i can try harder :D )

Does the roof of your car look like this:

Or this?:

It should look like the second one, with the plastic bars running along the sides. If it doesn't, you can still get a roof rack, but you'll need to find someone willing to trade.

Those bars have four caps. Up front, you simply bolt the bar into the strips. In back, you slide it into the channel and tighten it with a bolt. It's pretty straight forward, provided you have those bars already on your roof.

If i remember correct to change the strips out for the roof rack plastic you have to pull the head liner inside the car. But if you wanna pull your strips and mail them to me. I'll mail you my plastic parts you need plus my bars..

It looks like the first where its below flush to the roof. Mothersucker!

I would recommend posting in the P5 Marketplace to see if anybody is willing to trade. What you have right now are known as "deletes", and you're looking for roof rack mounts. I'd simply post "WTT deletes for roof rack" or something along those lines. This option may take longer but you will definitely save money.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy it? Putting some of the love I have left over from my Mazda 6 into my wife's protege 5 and the first thing that had to go was her old Roof Rack.

I always said the same thing. But then i found this pic. Some people like to haul a snowboard and look good doing it..

i bought the roof rack off of someone on here. i have some plastic pieces but it looks like covers, not what it attaches too. and a wagon needs a roof rack. theres just no other way around it for me

So other than the dealer, where would I be able to get replacement racks that work for this car? Not having any luck.
